I facilitate a community group in the Trailblazer Community.  Is there an option to move it Salesforce hosted Slack community?

    Hello Roy,

I myself a leader for a group in India! I don't think thats possible. The Leader's Slack group is specifically for leaders!

We are seeing a repeating error from the Salesforce Slack app whenever a user posts a message in Slack. The message in the channel is delivered normally, but the author also gets an ephemeral error in the Salesforce app DM.

Error (Only visible to you):

There was a problem processing the Slack event MESSAGE_EVENT ErrorType: NullPointerException

This happens on every message typed directly in Slack.

Please advise how to stop the Salesforce app from sending these errors (configuration, scopes/event subscription, or a known platform issue). If the user sends a message from Salesforce, this error does not occur and everything works correctly;

We don’t have a custom Apex Slack app: no .slackapp / SlackApp metadata, no class extending Slack.EventDispatcher, and Apex Slack App User Setup is empty (no System User / Unmapped User row). The only Slack Apex in the org is SDO demo code (Slack Mission Control: org link / bundles), which is not subscribed to message events.

The ephemeral error comes from the first-party Salesforce app in Slack (Messages tab, “Sending messages to this app has been turned off”), on every message typed in Slack. Salesforce -> Slack does not trigger it.

So there is no handler where we can null-check getUser() / getText(), and we can’t remove message from Event Subscriptions — that app isn’t ours on api.slack.com.

If the same NPE string is also used when Salesforce’s own inbound handler throws, that would explain it. Any idea how to stop or debug that without a custom SlackApp?

We are facing a limitation with the Slack sandbox (developer environment), where the user limit is restricted to 8 members. For our use case, this is quite limiting, as we want to perform realistic UAT and integration testing that closely mirrors our production environment.

I have a couple of questions:

  1. Are there any options or recommended approaches to create a sandbox/testing environment that more closely resembles a production Enterprise Grid setup (in terms of users, apps, and integrations)?
  2. How are other organizations handling large-scale testing given the sandbox user limit?
  3. What are the best practices or enterprise-level strategies for testing Slack + Salesforce integrations before going live?

Any guidance, real-world experiences, or recommended approaches would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

This is a good point about the challenge of testing Slack + Salesforce integrations at enterprise scale. With an 8-member sandbox limit, using a combination of focused integration tests, representative test users, and staged UAT seems like a practical way to identify issues before production.

For smaller customization needs during UAT, tools such as espaço invisível para copiar e colar can also be useful when testing how different text formats, usernames, or messages behave across Slack and other platforms.

Hi Trailblazers,

I’m currently working on the Trailhead module “Deploy an Agent in Slack.”

As part of the exercise, I’m trying to find the Agent Request under Tools & Settings → Organization Settings → Salesforce →Agentforce. However, when I open Agentforce, the Needs Review tab shows “0 requests” and “No requested agents.”

I have attached a screenshot showing what I’m seeing.

Could someone please help me understand:

  • Why is the Agent Request not appearing?
  • Is there any additional setup or permission required?
  • Do I need to complete any specific step in the Trailhead module before the request appears?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I am working with a client to connect their Slack Enterprise to Salesforce and u

In Salesforce Setup > Manage Slack Connection, it shows their Slack Org and the Status is

Waiting for activation by Slack admin. From Slack, it shows their Salesforce organization and the Connection status is Ready to Activate.

When we click Activate, we repeatedly get the error:

There was a problem activating your Salesforce organization

Try again or restart Slack.

Anyone else see this issue? I appreciate any feedback in getting this resolved.

They have reached out to Slack Support and I have followed-up but have yet to hear back.

Hi Bradley, since Slack Support hasn't responded yet, it's worth opening a parallel case with Salesforce Support — this exact activation error is usually resolved on the Salesforce side.

Before logging it, confirm the person clicking Activate is both a Standard System Administrator in Salesforce and has Slack Admin rights (or is a Slack Org Owner) — mismatched permissions on either side is the most common cause.

When you log the case, Salesforce Support will want: your Slack plan tier (Enterprise Grid, in your case), the Slack Workspace/Team ID (found in the browser URL after opening Slack, starts with "T"), a screenshot of the exact error, and confirmation of whether this ever worked before. Having that ready up front tends to speed up resolution significantly.

@Vishal Verma @Usman Khan The problem is there is no modal that says Bring Salesforce data into Slack!

    @Tahmeed Fatima

did you get this figured out?

Update: click on the dropdown arrow beside your Slack Workspace Name > Tool & Settings > Manager Salesforce Organizations > click the 3 dots beside your Salesforce Org Name > Edit Channel Configurations > Connection & Authentication tab > Ensure "Show banner in Slack Home" is Enabled!

Hi All,

I am simply trying to send a slack channel message whenever an opportunity moves to closed won stage.

I have an opportunity record trigger asycn flow that simply runs down the 'run async' path and has a decision check on the opportunity stage. If closed won, it runs down to Send Slack Message action and I have populated the required fields, slack app, slack workspace, executive action as, slack conversation id, and the slack message.

However, during debug in my developer sandbox, I keep getting the error message:

We couldn't run action

Send Slack Message because something went wrong.

@Gohar Clients thanks for the message back. I was able to solve the issue FYI by using the alternative send message to slack channel DML instead. That slack action only needed a slack channel id and an email template.
