How to bring back role hierarchy to it initial state

I am rendering service for a firm that newly purchased Salesforce

And is my first time getting a job as a Salesforce administrator

I made a mistake by modifying the role hierarchy directly on the production org

And I want to restart it because I have input some unnecessary data in it

Step 1: Evaluate the Current Role Hierarchy
Step 2: Delete or Deactivate Unnecessary Roles
Step 3: Reset Role Hierarchy to Default
Step 4: Backup Your Org Data (Optional but Recommended)
Step 5: Test the New Hierarchy
Step 6: Communicate Changes (If Needed)
Step 7: Document Your Changes

Additional Tips:
If you're unsure about making changes in the production org, consider creating a Sandbox first, where you can experiment with role hierarchy modifications without affecting live data. This will help you visualize the changes and test them thoroughly.

From the wording (which is kinda vague) I'd expect this to only impact the Side Panel in Outlook.

Community Plus Users and roles

We were just given an upgrade to Customer Community Plus licenses which require that new users be provisioned with a role attached to it. Because default, SF is creating a new role for each new users and placing them under our Sales Manager in our Role Hierarchy. I have two questions:

Does anyone know why it defaulted in putting users there in the role hierarchy?
And what would be best practice for them as far as being in a role hierarchy? Should they be in their own branch? Under revenue?

It's odd because when I click on the role on the user record, it will detail where it falls in the role hierarchy. But then when I go to Setup>Users>Roles and look at our org set up, I do not see the community plus role listed.

User role name need to contain "Customer Success"

Hello all,

I trying to create a validation rule in account, there is a lookup field on user in the account and the validation rule need to check if the user I choose is in the role of customer success (by contain because ill have customer success- USA / Europe and etc.)

This is my validation rule -

(ISNEW() || ISCHANGED( Landing_page__c ) || ISCHANGED( P_P_NDA_Eligible_Cohort__c ) ||ISCHANGED(P_P_account_status__c) || ISCHANGED ( P_P_Owner__c )) && ISPICKVAL( P_P_account_status__c ,"Ready to engage practices") && (ISBLANK(Landing_page__c) || ISBLANK(P_P_NDA_Eligible_Cohort__c) || ISBLANK( Project_Lead__c ) || ISBLANK( P_P_Owner__c )) && NOT(CONTAINS( P_P_Owner__r.UserRole.Name ,"Customer Success"))

Without the last line its working perfectly, but with the last line the validation rule doesnt pop up (and i choose a user that isn't in the role of customer success)

Any suggestions :)?

Hi @Nadav Mozes,

Can you try testing the validation rule in isolation on the same record?
You can turn off this validation rule and create a temporary one and just add the last line, to isolate which part of the validation rule is not triggering as expected.

NOT(CONTAINS( P_P_Owner__r.UserRole.Name ,"Customer Success"))

Custom Roles for Advertisers

Hello @* Marketing Cloud Engagement *

I would like to create or use an existing Marketing Cloud role that would allow my users to:

- Access Advertising Studio (manage, create, activate, delete audiences)

- Access to Data Extension (from Email Studio, to only see data)

Do you have recommendations?

I created a custom role where I checked all the boxes of Advertising Studio Audiences (which work) but I didn't find how to give access to data extension.

Hi @Clara Nisenbaum ,

For any access related to data extension , you can go with all of these options while creating custom roles.

1. Emails -> Subscribers
2. Contact Builder

Also make sure that the user is enabled as an API user.

Only Customer success role can edit the account record.

Hi all,

I`m trying to create a validation rule for a specific role that he will the only one who can edit the account record (based on a value from picklist)

I got this so far-

(ISNEW() || ISCHANGED( Landing_page__c ) || ISCHANGED( P_P_NDA_Eligible_Cohort__c ) ||ISCHANGED(P_P_account_status__c)) && ISPICKVAL( P_P_account_status__c ,"Ready to engage practices") && $User.UserRoleId <> "00E1r000001uoeY" && (ISBLANK(Landing_page__c) || ISBLANK(P_P_NDA_Eligible_Cohort__c))

Those are the instructions-

The following fields should be mandatory in order to change the value to “Ready to engage practices”
- Landing page
- P&P - NDA Eligible cohort
Owner should be with role “Customer Success”

The problem is that it seems like its working the other way around, when my user role isnt customer success the validation rule pops up for the fields to be filled but doesnt prevent me the editing from the first place which im not in the correct role, when im changing to customer success i can edit the record no matter what, even when im choosing the picklist value Ready to engage practices the fields Landing page and pp nda can stay blank, which the validation rule says the opposite...

What am i missing?

How to display Role Name based on Contact?

I have a formula field that display Sales Person

"Sales_Member_Contact__r.FirstName & " " & Sales_Member_Contact__r.LastName"

I want to create another field that display role name based on Sales Person. Is it possible?

This is for contacts that have been created as community users.
Is the contact you're testing with a community user? What license does it have? If it's a login license (high volume), there is no role

A user in a lower role can edit records of a user in a higher role. The lower role users were not registered as an account team. I want to prevent lower-level users from editing records of higher-level users.

what is the OWD defined currently for the Object? is it Public read-write?. is the user having a profile which can edit this object or is he having any permission set which gives edit access

How to implement creating a new Homepage Layout and activate by Roles?

I am working on a project and I need to create a new Homepage. There are restrictions. For example, the new Homepage uses Profile A. Those in Profile A has roles AA, AB, and AC. The users with AA or AB roles can view the new Homepage. Users with AC still view the old homepage.

How can this be done?

I would prefer to use the old Homepage and its "Set Component Visibility" features based on Roles but my manager wants a new Homepage.

My manager also do not want a new profile just for the users with AC role due to Profile A having many features implemented for it.

With these requirements, I was thinking if it was possible to embed the old Homepage into a Visualforce or Aura Component in the new Homepage then render it if user has AC role. That or when user logs into new Homepage, a method will call and redirect to old Homepage if user has AC role. But I have not found if this was feasible.

Does anyone have any ideas how I can implement a new Homepage while preventing a user with a specific role from view new homepage so they can view the old?
