Hi All,

 

Regarding making gantt - read only -I came across important warning in the document. salesforce doc.

"IMPORTANT If you activate the extended permissions without first adding them to users, you make the Gantt read-only. Activation is required only once in existing orgs and is irreversible."

 

Let's assume - we have 10 dispatchers. 

1. Based on doc(https://help.salesforce.com/articleView?id=pfs_custom_permissions.htm&type=5) we created new permission set with required Custom permission. and Assign that permission Set to 8 dispatchers.

2. we activate button from -> Field Service Settings | Dispatcher Console UI | Extended Custom Permissions.

Queries:

1. does this mean remaining 2 dispatcher will be having read only gantt access forever(as mentioned above - Activation is required only once in existing orgs and is irreversible)

2. How about new users/dispatchers joining after this activation.

3.Why this button activation making gantt read only if read only if read only gantt dependant upon

"Enable Gantt Locker" permission 

4. once this read only gantt started working- everything - only from gantt part will read only? no impact on Map view and left panel list view edit/add and territory selection etc ?

 

**I am sure there should some way to handle this scenario or at least above warning/doc need some more clarification explanation before we do any action in our sandbox/Production environment.

    Hello @Satish Nikam

    Did this custom permission works?  

     

    In our case we want to give read only access to the gantt for a certain profile. Other profiles will remain having edit access. Before I start configuring your solution in a sandbox I want to make sure if it really works.

I have created document builder template from Work Order object. On the desktop it is showing totally fine.The templates are getting created but I am not able to see Create Service Document button on the Actions bar of the Work Order.

 

FYI 

 

I have added that button on the Salesforce Mobile and Lightning experience actions.

Can' we create service document template from Work Order object in Mobile? Also I have provided all the permission set requires to the Technician.

    You can enable both Document Builder and Service Reports for your company, but you can assign only one feature, Service Reports or Document Builder, to each user. When you give a user the permission to use Document Builder, the Service Report button is hidden for them and they can’t access Service Report features or templates. You can continue to use Service Reports, but we suggest adopting Document Builder to build more branded, customized, and dynamic service documents.  https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=service.fs_document_builder_about.htm&type=5

Hi All,

 

I am not able to see Skills objects in any of the FSL related permission set for one of our new implementation. for other client we are able to see skills object under dispatcher/Admin Permission . PFA screenshot.

 

As a result - I am unable Delete unused skills and getting insufficient access while deleting skills record.

 

anything missing here ?

Can anyone confirm the Difference between 'In-Day' and 'Daily' on the Gantt Resolution dropdown?

    If you never got an answer to this, I think the slightly undocumented piece of "In-Day" is the use of keyboard shortcuts.  When you are in  "In-Day" view, there's no panning with the mouse, but left/right arrow keys on the keyboard do advance what part of the day you're looking at - a way to change the 00:00 - 07:00 mentioned above.

Hi All -

 

Getting error 'Picklist choice invalid' when I am saving screen results Picklist/Radio answer in the Custom object field. Picklist/Radio Button is showing only Yes/No/N/A values to the User. Values stored correctly in the backend , but on UI I am seeing this error and unable to proceed on next screen. In other flow same setup is working as expected.

 

The flow itself works fine when clicking 'debug' on desktop, but errors out when live on the app. Have checked all the picklist choice types and all look fine, but not really clear what it is that's going wrong.

Any ideas?

Hi. When I right-click on an appointment in Gantt schedule, there is a set of options like: Details, Flag, Reschedule, Get candidates, Reshuffle, Change status, etc. Some of these options relate to automatic scheduling that our org does not use. For example, we never need to Reshuffle, or Get candidates. Similarly, when our dispatchers choose Reschedule, the behavior is not designed to align with our other processes in the app. Instead, we have alternative command for them to use. 

However, they sometime forget, and choose one of these actions that they are not supposed to. Is there a way for me to hide them from their view? No one in our org is using these commands. Ideally, they would be hidden from every user. Is that possible?

Hi all,

 

I'm having trouble with contractors being able to get into the mobile app due to an error on 'Missing user permissions'.

 

I have created a customer community plus community. I have also created a test user using my own email address and enabled them in the community. They have the permission sets of FSL mobile licence, fsl resource permissions, and fsl resource licence assigned. They also have the fsl mobile licence. This user is also associated with an active service resource.

 

However on logging in using the custom url for the community it gets them to the stage where it asks to allow access, then on the next screen it says 'Missing user permissions' And under it it says 'You lack permissions to use Field Service.'

 

Is there anything obvious I'm missing? I'm assuming the FSL resource permission set should be giving them the basics to access the FSL objects used in the mobile app?

    I hope this helps some. I had the same issue. The problem was that the user related to the Service Resource was inactive. There were duplicate users with the same name. The users that were deactivated were linked to the service resource. I added an active user and it worked.

Hello All.

 

When Sync Errors occur in the Field Service Lightning App (iOS), are these being in any way captured in a server-side log? We are attempting to find ways to efficiently capture, understand, and troubleshoot these issues, which are often related to user error. 

 

Today we rely on 1) the user realizing there is an error, 2) the  user reaching out to our support team and 3) the user either adequately explaining the conditions around the error or 4) the user opening a screen sharing session with us to show us their phone in real-time (Skype, BlueJeans, etc).

 

I guess there are really two questions:

 

A) Is there a log we can look at today or is this under consideration for the future? I did not see any posted ideas out there as of yet. 

 

B) Considering how we are troubleshooting these today, is there a better way that Salesforce or other companies have discovered to help users handle these pending sync issues?
