#SFDOsprint7 discussing

It’s 2025 and that means we’re celebrating 10 years of Sprints as a community! 🥳💙🦖

As Director of the Salesforce Commons program and a participant or host at almost every event in the past 10 years, I've had the honour of witnessing the incredible success they've had on the Salesforce Nonprofit and Education Trailblazer community firsthand.

What started as a way for the Salesforce community to contribute to the Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP) has grown into a global movement, bringing together over 3,700 participants at 59 events to create freely accessible solutions for nonprofits and educational institutions.

This article is a heartfelt 💙 thank you 💙 to everyone who has contributed their time, energy, and skills over the past decade. I reached out to all of the original planners of the first Sprints in 2015, and am excited to share the memories and reflections I received.

Community Sprints are more than just technology; they're about creating connections, sharing ideas, and making a real difference. Read the full article to learn more about our journey, how to get involved at events this year, and see the incredible impact we've achieved together.

I'd love to hear your Sprint stories and "ah-ha" moments in the comments below! This is the first in a series of articles celebrating this milestone, so stay tuned for more! It’s 2025 and that means we’re celebrating 10 years of Sprints as a community! 🥳💙🦖 As Director of the Salesforce Commons program and a participant or host at almost every event in the past 10 years

Is this the right place to ask about accessing some of the wonderful outputs of these Sprints?

I was really interested in hearing about this a while back:

ANZ Payment Solution Framework:

Focused on creating a decision tree to identify which companies/products could be used to solve local and general use cases. Payments, Receipting and Integrations is top of mind for a lot of people; customers want guidance about where to start, they want simplicity. The team designed a working Flow to help local NGO’s understand what local providers would be a good fit for their unique needs, resources, and skill-sets. And, check out their incredible video to promote their work!

Next Steps: Publish the flow externally so NGO’s can start using it!

——

This framework would be incredibly useful. Did it ever get released?

Registration for our next Commons #SFDOSprint in Sydney, AU is NOW OPEN!

On 29 February & 1 March, 2024 as part of Salesforce Tour Sydney, join us for two days full of networking, fun, and building Salesforce solutions to help Nonprofits and Schools address common challenges. We had a blast at the first Sydney Sprint event in November, and we’re excited to be coming back to host you again.

“If you get the opportunity to Sprint, just do it!” - Feedback from November Sydney, AU Sprint

What’s a Community Sprint? Sprints are Salesforce-hosted community innovation events (similar to a hack-a-thon) that are regularly hosted to bring partners, customers, and employee volunteers together to identify, prioritise and build solutions that make using Salesforce more impactful for nonprofit & education organisations.

Why should you join? Sprints are unlike anything else in the Salesforce community. You are encouraged to use your skills to collaborate and build nonprofit + education solutions while learning from Salesforce experts in this space — 90% of participants report an increase in skills. Not to mention they are a super fun way to connect with other Salesforce users, admins, and developers.

→ Contribute your skills to create solutions for the nonprofit and education sectors.

→ Connect with local Salesforce professionals doing the same work you are.

→ Find existing Open Source Commons volunteer-built solutions you can use today.

→ Learn new skills as you participate.

→ Enjoy a fun, free, unique hands-on experience - think workshop, not a webinar.

Reserve your spot at the Sprint today!

A free ticket to World Tour Sydney (happening Wednesday, February 28th) is not required to register for the Sprint, but we encourage you to attend both.

🥳 I’m thrilled to share that @Lizzy Roberts has joined the Commons Community Team today, taking on the role of Senior Community Program Manager! Welcome to the team, Lizzy! 🤩

If you don’t yet know Lizzy you’ll want to join her weekly Community @Coffee Chat STAT and introduce yourself. For those that do, you know that Lizzy is an experienced Community Manager who’s been with Salesforce for over 6 years, leading the Nonprofit & Education .Org Community as part of the larger Trailblazer Community platform (and previously the Power of Us Hub), and an all-around incredible customer success advocate. Since joining .org in September 2017, Lizzy has led numerous global community programs NGO/EDU, and has deeply supported the Commons off the side of her desk for years ❤️. She's also is a long-time pal of Sprinty 🦖!

@Kristiane Kindle and I are thrilled and incredibly honoured to have Lizzy join our small yet mighty team, and support the work that you all do for the Nonprofit and Education Salesforce Community. To quote Lizzy’s fave movie (Pride and Prejudice), I ask... “Can you die of happiness?”  We just might! 👏

And, check out the special welcome message from Sprinty :)

If you’ll be in or around SFO for  #DF23 next month, please join us for a special Commons solution show-n-tell lunch on Wednesday, September 13th from Noon - 4 pm (or as your schedule permits). Instead of hosting a Sprint, the Commons team is hosting this special event at Salesforce West to create space for our Nonprofit and Education community to come together, have a rest, fuel up, network, and learn a bit more about Commons solutions you can use to solve common technology challenges today.

Register today - Space is limited 😊

https://commonscommunitylunchshowntell.splashthat.com/

▶ What is The Commons?

The Commons program is a community-based approach to innovation on the Salesforce platform for Nonprofits and Schools that powers meaningful contributions. We bring the community together to identify, prioritize, and build solutions for common technology challenges facing nonprofits and schools. We provide resources to those that want to solve technology challenges, helping them create and share solutions allowing everyone to then benefit from their work. This makes it easier for nonprofits and schools to maximize their investment in Salesforce.

“I can’t believe how much I’ve gotten out of today. Not just the project, but it’s been brilliant - the synergies, asking questions to people at my table, the support I’ve received. I’ve learned more in the last 2 hours than I have in the last 5 weeks” - Community Sprint Participant

Wow...this past Friday, June 30th we hosted our second London #SFDOSprint in 2023 and the feeling in the room was incredible! Almost 100 devoted Salesforce Admins, Developers, and Consultants came together and dedicated their day to building innovative solutions to make using Salesforce more impactful for the broader Nonprofit and Education Community.

Follow the link to learn more about how our Sprinters truly showed up, what projects were worked on, and the next steps for the Commons 🎉.

Last but not least, Kristiane Kindle and I would like send a huge thank you to thank our incredible staff volunteers for helping to support our community and bring our events to life!
