#Campaign Member Status0 discussing

Hi - has anyone run into difficulties with the limit on campaign member statuses? We have now got issues with our Eventbrite implementation as we have so many.

" Since you have 5,000+ campaigns and at least the 2 default Sent/Responded per campaign, that is adding up. The thing I have never gotten as straight answer from documentation is whether there is also a limit on single campaigns for the number of statuses you can add, but that seems less likely. "

Has anyone got any bright ideas? Do we need to delete old campaigns?

Campaign status is a single-value picklist field, which means we can only select one status for each campaign. The limited number of max picklist value is 1000, which means you could have 1000 drop down values in the field for selection. Hope it helps.

The object does not show in the Object Manager, any ideas how can I create a custom nubmer field?

Thanks!

Thank you @Smitha Thomas. I believe the permissions you refer to are for front end users, not admins. We do have Marketing Users who make full use of campaign management features.

What I'm looking to achieve is adding a 'number' field to the campaign member status records, to drive scoring calculation.

Is the ability to configure Salesforce to track campaign member statuses only available with Marketing Cloud Connect, or can it be configured in NPSP without said package?  If the latter, could you point me to documentation on how to do this?

Hi everyone,

When I create a new Campaign, I create several Campaign Member Status', delete one, and set "Sent" as the default.  Several minutes after I create the Campaign, "Connected" appears as a Campaign Member Status.  The fact that it takes several minutes makes me think that Pardot is creating it after synchronization.  Does anyone know where in Pardot this is being done and how I can change it?  We have Connected Campaigns turned on.

Thanks

Hello! :)

I am wondering if someone can help me - see attached document for screenshots. I am trying to sort out my campaign member statuses.

I have set them up in setup (page 1). I am logged in a system admin, have marketing user ticked and have rights to edit campaign member status.

I have set up a campaign (page 2), when I go into the campaign member status related list (page 3) and click "new", the page opens but is blank (page 4) and I can't do anything to add those other statuses that I need.

Thank you for your help!

Rachel

Has anyone thought of a way for Pardot to update Salesforce Campaigns when an email is actually sent?  Pardot claims that sending an email is not an activity, so it doesn't update anything or allow automation when an email is sent.  When we start a new connected campaign in Salesforce, we default the Status to "Not Sent" because the Pardot email hasn't been sent yet.  And we would like to update that to "Sent" when the email is actually sent.  I've been trying to think of a way to update the Status based on the Contact/Lead Task that is generated when the Pardot email is sent, but I'm hoping someone has thought of a better way to do this.

Thanks!

In the past month or so, I have noticed that prospects are not being assigned the “sent” default campaign member status in Salesforce when they are sent a Pardot list email. Instead they are only assigned a campaign member status upon opening or clicking an email. I cannot determine what changed in my completion actions, settings, connectors, and campaign set up to cause this to no longer work! Hopefully someone can help!

Engagement Journey Automation overwrites "Responded" Status

We currently have 2 automations running in Pardot:

  • Automation 1 via Form Submission Completion Action adds Prospect to Campaign A as "Responded".
  • Automation 2 via Engagement Journey listens for an Email Open, and then adds the Prospect to Campaign A as "Sent".

Through this set up where we track our leads as number of campaign members with status "Responded", I find myself "losing" responses as an email open that occurs after the more important action, the form submit, changes the existing "Responded" status to "Sent".

It wouldn't be a problem the other way around, but since we have to allow time in the Engagement Journey for the open we initiate this status change after the CTA in the email was already clicked and prospect submitted the form.

Is there anyway to have Pardot/SFDC retain a "Responded" status? I.e. to have "Sent" be editable to "Responded" but not the other way around?

Or is the solution here to either:

  • Not use campaign association via "Sent" for Email Open tracking in Journeys
  • Or keep doing it, but set up a separate campaign for the form?

Thank you for you input!

    Hi Brittany,

This is super helpful! I just implemented the steps you recommended and this should help avoid the issue I was describing.

    Many thanks!

Who has experience with Campaign cloning in Lightning? In Campaigns we have set up templates that marketing uses to draft new ones with a number of default settings and values. In Classic you can clone campaigns and this includes the member statuses. In Lightning there's no such thing.

I've been able to create a value with the process builder, but it overwrites all existing ones with a duplicate of it's own as the campaign needs a default and a responded value.

It's good to overwrite the existing values as we don't use them. But actually we have a number of values needed with each campaign template, and I receive process errors on the multiple values when I clone a campaign in the sandbox.

Error message:

"We can't save this record because the “Member Status Cloning” process failed. Give your Salesforce admin these details. This error occurred when the flow tried to update records: FIELD_NOT_UPDATABLE: You must have a default campaign member status. Set another status as the default and try again.. You can look up ExceptionCode values in the SOAP API Developer Guide. Error ID: 134266033-18391 (224979305)"

Thanks for the update @Victor So! Now I remember this idea indeed! I've promoted it about 10 months ago, so I notice in the comments... It slipped my mind but good that this is getting attention from the dev team currently!

Hi guys!

1) I created custom statuses in the Advanced Setup within Campaigns (SFDC, Classic). Do you know how to add this Advanced Setup to LEX?

I found one doc (below link), but don't know how to add Campaign Member Status component to the Campaign view. I did search in the AppStore, but it's not there.

https://help.salesforce.com/articleView?id=campaigns_customize_member_status_lex.htm&type=5

2) After performing some tests with cloning the campaigns - the desired, custom statuses popped out only when using Classic. The statuses did not get copied in LEX. How to make them work?

3) What about contacts that get sync into a campaign automatically (via FB, etc) - are they going to have the custom status updated? If yes, in Classic or in LEX as well?

Thank you so much!
