Hello everyone,
I am new to the Salesforce ecosystem and recently got my admin certification. Could you please guide on how to start if I want to continue in the developer route? I want to be proficient with my apex coding skills. Anything that you think would be helpful please share with me.
Thank you so much!

Apr 25, 2025, 6:53 AM Hello @Aliou Aboubakar
Congrats on your admin certification .Starting as a Salesforce developer with a focus on Apex coding is great move.
1.Learn Apex Basics-Dive into the Apex Developer Guide on Salesforces site.start with simple triggers and classes try creating a basic trigger to update a field on an object.
2. TrailheadTrails- Check out the "Build Apex Triggers" and "Apex Basics & Database" modules on Trailhead. They have hands-on on demand for beginners. Move to "Apex Testing" next testing is key in Salesforce.
3. Set Up Dev Environment Use a developer Edition of org or VS Code with the Salesforce Extension Pack to write and deploy Apex.
4. Practice- Build small apps like a custom button with Apex or a batch job. Look at Salesforce GitHub samples.
5 . Community- join the Trailblazer Community, Stack Exchange, or watch the "Salesforce official channel" on YouTube.
6. Certification Goal-Aim for Platform Developer 1 certification next 6 months.

Hello Salesforce Community,
My name is MichealJalls, and I am excited to join this vibrant group. I currently reside in Atlanta and am actively seeking job opportunities within the Salesforce ecosystem. I have successfully completed my Salesforce Administrator and Developer 1 certifications, and I am eager to apply my knowledge and skills in a professional setting.
I bring 17 years of experience in eCommerce and Product Information Management, and I am now passionate about transitioning into Salesforce development. For the last four years, I have been working with Lightning Web Components (LWC) and Apex, integrating REST with my Java application in an L3 support project. With the project now finished and no opportunity to continue in Salesforce at my current organization, I am looking for new opportunities outside.
I am particularly interested in connecting with fellow developers, administrators, and anyone who can provide insights or opportunities related to Salesforce careers. If you have any job leads, advice, or just want to connect, please feel free to reach out. You can also connect with me on LinkedIn.
Thank you, and I hope to connect with many of you soon!
Best regards,
MichealJalls
This virtual hands-on Data Cloud workshop on May 7th 1PM EST is really the fastest way to start mastering Salesforce Data Cloud. I hope you could join in and take advantage of the event.
Though Data Cloud tools are designed to be low-code, there are many opportunities for developers as well. Salesforce applications can take advantage of data in Data Cloud through many ways including Flows and Apex to creation actions and in prompt template. Knowledge of Data Cloud opened up a whole new world of possibilities for me and I hope you would enjoy the workshop as well.
It's really a fun and productive event and Salesforce Data Cloud SMEs would be at hand to answer all your question. Looking forward to seeing you on May 7th virtual Hands-on Data Cloud workshop at 1EST! To register: https://sfdc.co/sfcabinsevents
