#Mail Merge0 discussing

I am trying to set up an extended mail merge and the file has fields from both the Opportunity and Recurring Donation Objects. I can get the Opportunity fields to show up, but can not see fields from Recurring Donation on the file when I execute the Mail Merge. Is there a way to get Recurring Donation fields into a mail merge?

I'm working in NPSP Salesforce and am trying to display/show the last donation value on a Mail Merge Doc. Is it a formula which is causing the problem or some mail merge formatting I'm not doing. Whatever I try just shown an empty space

Just to make folks in this group of a small, simple and free app for generating printable labels.

I've been using it for over 7 years now and it works just fine.:

https://appexchange.salesforce.com/appxListingDetail?listingId=a0N3000000B4bsGEAR

Even though the AppExchange entry only shows Classic screenshots, the latest release does work in LIghtnight just as well.

It's a quick and simple way (without any bells & whistles) to print labels for multiple records from Contacts, Leads, Accounts & Opportunities (no Custom objects tho).

@Scott Mathers, no we have not.  We are currently toggling back & forth between Classic & Lightening.   We started using a lot more email templates but there are still a lot of clients that don't want their letters via email.

Hi,

I'm using the native extended mailmerge? (the mailmerge button) to merge donation information into a word letter and have it sent to the user. I even got it to run through a custom link inside Lightning! but is there ANY way to set up an automated process to automatically "Log a call" that a mail merge was done? a workflow? a process builder?? has anyone been able to do this without resorting to a 3rd party app? thanks for any thoughts!! 🙂

Hi Naomi - Your post is a few years old now, but I am interested to learn how you did the mail merge to MS Word template/doc in SF Lightning. Are you able to paste the code in the custom link you say you got to work inside Lightning....if possible please.  cheers

Hi all - I am new to SF and am looking for some mail merge insights.   I work in development prospect research so am tasked with pulling a lot of biographical information stored in SF to create donor bios. We currently are doing everything manually and looking up records one by one, but I'm wondering if there's a way to use their SF account IDs to create an excel that I can then mail merge to a custom template? Maybe this is something I can use report for or something similar? Primarily looking to pull their name, employment, education, past giving, board status which are all fields we use. Thanks!!!

    Hi Hayley,

There is an extended mail merge feature available, although I haven't used it myself, but I believe it only works with Microsoft Word: https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sf.mailmerge.htm&type=5

Other than that, I would consider looking at S-Docs or Conga Composer. These are a great tools on the appExchange that allow you to export data into Word, Excel, etc, allowing you to create a mail merge document for example, from a list of contacts. They also offer discount pricing for nonprofits.

    Thanks,

    Mikey

As we're a Belgian based company roughly half of our customers is Dutch speaking and the other half is French speaking. When creating contacts in Salesforce, we have decided to use English as input language, this also means that the contact salutation is Mr., Ms., or Mrs. When using the salutation as merge fields in mass emailing, we want to avoid that a French or Dutch speaking contact gets addressed with an Englisch salutation. Is there a way to automatically translate these salutations in merge fields based upon a language parameter? Many thanks in advance!

@Rutger Verschaeve I see two possible options, go to the Salutation field and include other types of salutations or use Transklation Workbench and create such translations of the salutations. Translations are related to the language being used by the user then you have to define which is the approach. Third option possible use a custom readonly field which is automatically populated based on country of the contact using process builder.

I am using Classic Email Templates to send email from a List View in Lightning. After the email is sent, it appears on the Contacts Activity Tab however it only shows template with merge tags and not the actual field data sent to the email recipient. Recipient receives email with the correct data inserted. Should I be using Mail Merge Templates instead or is this the only way it will appear in Lightning?

Hi! That's the way it appears in Lightning. So here's a tedious thing I've done before: I had to keep copies of the email with the fields merged. Using workflow or process builder, you can create copies of the email content in Notes or Tasks. You'd recreate the content of the body of the email so that it would store it in that record instead. As far as I remember, tasks didn't give you enough space for long content in the body. Notes might be a way to go or a custom object to record those messages. I'm not sure how to make it fire the same that you send a list email, though. This might give you some ideas to get started!

When I go to Setup > Mail Merge Templates, all of our templates from Classic are there.  Then, when I click to insert an email template to an email, I select Classic Email Templates, and only a partial list of the Mail Merge Templates display.  Thank you for any help in accessing *all* of our templates!

Hello group. We are an NPO out of NH, USA.  I have been using Sales Force for 16 months.  Started with IE and it was recommended that we switch over to Mozilla Fire Fox for optimum usage. NOW after 16 months our Mail Merge / Print started bumping us back to the login screen in order to print.  Now we are told to switch to CHROME.  We can't keep switching or using multiple browser platforms for every piece of software we use.  Plus and moreover, I am not a fan of Chrome at all.  This issue seemed to happen over the weekend.  All was well Friday, and on Monday the problem was present.  Anyone have an explanation, workaround, solution... experiencing the same?
