Mail Merge Trailblazers

This is a group dedicated to content and discussion about doc merge solutions (Conga Composer, Apsona, NPSP contact lists, Google docs, Microsoft suite etc).

Hi all! Question about current NPSP native communications technology vs. Conga. I am a previously certified admin but it's been a number of years since I've been in a role that used those skills in depth and I haven't kept up so appreciate your tips!

I just started back at a nonprofit org where we need some automation around donor gift processing/acknowledgment. I've used Conga at my previous org and know it is great once set up, love love love getting the letters merged without having to run a report and set up a mail merge every time and getting them sent out automatically vs. having to email out manually, and having automation set up so the requisite acknowledgment status fields get updated, and a copy of letter saved to the opportunity... but in my experience Conga has been time consuming and finicky to set up...and I'm wondering if there is native technology in Salesforce NPSP at this point we could employ to be able to run acknowledgment letters in a similar way and distribute by email to donors, either run in batches or one off during slow times, and have the ability to build in some of that automation. Or if we just need to pay up and get Conga here too and probably invest in a consultant to help with set up...

Thanks for any advice on where to look for resources on this (I did a quick search of articles and posts in Trailblazer but didn't see anything speaking to this) or sharing what works for you!

Hi @Jillian Adkins, just want to introduce myself - I'm part of the Opero team. I started my Salesforce journey as a Program Director/Administrator at a nonprofit where we used Conga for all of our mail merge needs too. I'm obviously biased, but I think you'll find Opero Documents easier to use :) You can download a free trial from the AppExchange and I'm available if you have any questions or feedback: cpopovich@opero.com. Thanks for the shoutout, @Luison Lassala

Do you need to create fundraising appeal letters with different versions for different households?  Of course you do!  And why not do it all inside of the platform?!  Here’s a video that shows how I built a template in Conga Composer with conditional logic based on NPSP Levels.  I’d love to hear if you give this a try!  Plus, a very similar process will work with Apsona :). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JbPX-wjLwf4&t=207s

How to Merge Name Tags with Salesforce and Apsona

Happy # MailMergeMonday!  Today, I'm releasing a hot-off-the-laptop video on merging Name Tags from the Campaign and Campaign Member objects.  This solution could be extended for other Event/Program/Service data models (if you have suggestions, please leave a comment!).  Last week, I recorded a follow up video thanks to a community member.  Let's keep the dialogue going!   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hRc4kTXrlnA #Sales Cloud #Automation

@Mail Merge Trailblazers, I'm excited to share a ⭐brand new⭐ video tutorial on how to merge an Attendance Sheet with @Program Management Module (PMM) and @Apsona for Salesforce.  I think this will be really useful in leveraging PMM in settings where everyone doesn't have access to wifi.  It's just the beginning of building out a whole family of templates for PMM.  What do you want to see next?  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFWj2YNYvGQ&list=PLX6tGlGkxSKNbAvtGOZvu9UwzXBsyhFn7  @Nonprofit and Education MindShare

How to Push and Pull attendance data with @Program Management Module (PMM) and the Xappex G-Connector.

Last week, I shared a video about how to create printable attendance sheets using Apsona.  Today, @Peter White brilliantly suggested an enhancement to sync attendance data back into Salesforce.  Check out my latest video and I'd love to hear your ideas about this use case, or other tricky PMM merge examples!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=on8HVYoLFP8

Just to make folks in this group of a small, simple and free app for generating printable labels.

I've been using it for over 7 years now and it works just fine.:

https://appexchange.salesforce.com/appxListingDetail?listingId=a0N3000000B4bsGEAR

Even though the AppExchange entry only shows Classic screenshots, the latest release does work in LIghtnight just as well.

It's a quick and simple way (without any bells & whistles) to print labels for multiple records from Contacts, Leads, Accounts & Opportunities (no Custom objects tho).

Hi pals,  I am working on a project to share open source Conga Composer templates with the community.  I'm looking for a few collaborators (who have access to Conga Composer in a test environment) to provide some feedback on a new solution for generating address labels.  I have instructions written out already, but I know they can be better with some community feedback!  I expect this exercise will take 30 mins or less, especially if you already have some familiarity with building Conga solutions.  Let me know if you are interested here or via DM.  Thanks!
