#Quip1 discussing

I'm a long time Quip user since before the Salesforce acquisition and have 1000s of docs hosted there. But in the last few days Quip has started randomly just logging me out and requires re-signing in on every single launch. Apparently this could have to do with the fact that I'm on a legacy account and need to somehow connect my Quip account with a Salesforce account. But I can't figure out how to do this. Anyone know?

Editing to note that this is a free personal account and was never tied to a team or company.

You need to link your Quip account to a Salesforce login.

A quick fix is to create a free Salesforce Developer account using the same email and then sign into Quip using Sign in with Salesforce

That usually stops the logout loop and connects your legacy account. If it doesn’t link automatically, you’ll need Quip Support to merge it.

I have enabled the Buyer Relationship Map on the Standard Account Plan functionality, added the Buyer Attributes, Department Group, and Seniority Level  fields to the Contacts page and created a contact on the Account. My profile has access to the 3 fields.  Still the  Map is not editable on the Account Plan and displays more as an image?. How to make it functional?  input on this would be helpful. Thanks!

You must add the "View Relationship Map" mobile & lightning action to your account layout page for that same button to be visible on your account plan.

    You must add the

Hi there,

We are planning to implement the Action Plan object within our Org. However I am having challenges showing the activities related to that object within the Quip document. The onlly option that is feasible on our end is using the @Salesforcetask Quip live app. Then everytime we are using the Task live app a pop up box shows up saying " The Salesforce Tasks app will be retiring soon. Please contact your Quip administrator for support." Just wanted to know when it is retiring and is it really retiring? Or Do you recommend an alternative. I might be missing something here. Please advise thank you!

Is there a way to tell in the document, if the report is Live Data or Speadsheet?

    Hi,

Is there a possibility to automate a Salesforce report in Quip to refresh automatically to a Google sheet, with all the active link in Quip intact and available in Google sheet?

Yes, you can display a picture from a URL in a Quip document, but not directly in a cell of a Quip spreadsheet (i.e., inside a cell like A1 in Excel or Google Sheets). Here’s how it works and what your options are:

Embed Image in a Quip Document

If you're working in a Quip document (text area) and want to show an image from a URL:

    1. Copy the image URL (must be a direct image link ending in .jpg, .png, .gif, etc.).
    2. Paste the URL directly into the document.
    3. Quip will automatically recognize and embed the image inline.

When using the the Salesforce Tasks Quip Live App, how do you get the component to auto populate the record?   I matched the format for the record component but it does not work

I’ve run into the same thing before. The Quip Live App for Salesforce Tasks doesn’t auto-populate the related record unless the Quip doc is already linked to that specific Salesforce record, just matching the format or pasting the component manually won’t do the trick.

To make it work, you need to insert the Live App from within the Salesforce record using the Quip integration panel, not from inside Quip. That way, it passes the context (record ID) correctly. If you're using a template or trying to pre-fill it, you might need to use a custom Flow or automation to push the record ID into the Quip doc via the API, but that’s a heavier lift.

Insert the component from Salesforce, not the other way around, and it should pick up the link.

I am creating a calculator where I want to take the calculated values from two cells and divide them. E.g., cell A2 and A3 are both cells with basic formulas referencing another cell. I need to divide the two values in these cells. When I use the Divide formula, a value of zero is returned. Does quip have a limitation with using a formula referencing a cell with a formula that references another cell?

I recently updated my device to iOS18 and since then, my iOS Quip app has stopped showing the editing toolbar that normally appears above the keyboard.

Is this a known regression? How could I report this to the developers? As you might imagine, the app is not very functional when I cannot access necessary utilities like indenting, H1/H2, @ mentions, etc.

Details:

- Quip app version: iOS v8.65.0, fully updated

- Device: iPhone 12 Pro

- Device operating system: iOS 18.2, fully updated

Customer impact:

When editing a document in the app, I am missing the toolbar that lets me control important formatting options such as: indent, set style (e.g. H1 or H2 headings), @ mention, etc.

Repo steps:

1. Create a quip document

2. Navigate to that document in Quip's iOS app (I don't have another iPhone so cannot isolate if the device and/or OS is unique to the problem)

3. Tap to place cursor anywhere

4. Keyboard opens to begin typing

Expected: a menu formerly appeared above native keyboard, showing options to indent, change heading type, etc (see screenshot)

Actual: the menu is missing above the keyboard (see screenshot)

5. Dismiss keyboard and repeat steps 2-4 if it does not reproduce initially. The issue reproduces in both landscape & portrait mode.

Note: I have observed the menu appears exactly once (the very first time the keyboard opens), but then goes missing/absent for all subsequent editing, until the app is force quit again.

Hello @Lucy C. Salesforce Support created a new known issue for this. Here is the link if you want to report it as affecting you.

Just got logged out of Quip. Previously was using Authy for 2 factor authentication and somehow the Authy profile for Quip got deleted. Trying to log into Quip requires authentication code which I cannot get because it was deleted from Authy. No way to get a new Quip QR code to setup 2 factor authentication as new.
