#Contracts Object0 discussing

Can someone help me with this trailhead module ... it won't let me create a special DEV playground to do the second unit. I've tried twice to set up one but I get no email confirmation for set up in order to complete the unit. I signed up twice already and not received any email confirmation within the 30 minutes after signing.

Displaying the contract journey...

I have long had a need to clearly show the progression from an opportunity to a contract and then continue it's jounrney into a renewal opportunity and resulting contract and so on. After many failed attempts at building a custom report type with multiple connected objects I took a new approach and used just a single contract object.

I then pulled the downstream items I needed using "Add field related via lookup" function in the layout. This allowed me to pull the contract's designated renewal opportunity with the fields I needed to report on, and then by following that same relationship I pulled in the renewal opportunity's resulting contract (with the required fields) and the renewal contract's renewal opportunity (with it's required fields).

When I run the report I now have a single row containing the contract (with its source oppty) -> Renewal Oppty -> Resulting Renewal Contract -> Renewal Oppty. By setting the filters I can dictate the contracts that drive the rest of the row data.

The main benefit of this report to that I can now see renewal opportunities that have indeed closed and turned into new contract, yet the originating contract has failed to get updated to renewed status. :-)

I've generated a report to ensure the Active Contacts with renewable products always have a new Renewal Opportunity created for the next annual period.  However, I've run into cases where we booked a Renewal Opportunity and an Order was created, but new Contract was NOT created for the renewal period.  Is there a report I can generate to find all Closed Won Renewal Opportunity that did not result in an Contract being created?

How are you tracking "Contracts"?  Is that a standard or Custom Object record that is connected to the Opportunity record via a Lookup(Opportunity) field or something like that?

What is the best way to create relationships between these objects?  I have a custom object previously created with 145 fields called "Projects", (he way totally tangled into an APP called MILESTONE!) and the Contracts standard object.  The project has few look up relationships to the contract, making reporting quasi meaningless.

Can you provide more detailed information and some context?

What do you mean by "145 fields called Projects and the Contracts object. "

Is there a separate field on the Object for each Project Name?

How are these object connected to each other?

    Which object is the parent?

    Which object is the child?

Hi Everyone,

I'm working on using the Contracts object and have added the related list to the Account.  Does anyone know how to change the default 'Card' that shows in the related list?  I would love for it to be a list view without impacting the other related lists or at least change the fields on the 'Card'.  I have attached what it looks like.

Hi all, does anyone have any best practices for how you use the contracts object? We are thinking about creating a new contract for each order doc but at the end of the day, it seems like we will have a bunch and it will be a pain to manage which one is active and which is not. Thanks in advance!
