Salesforce.org Community Feedback

This is a public group for the Salesforce.org Community (nonprofits, education, and others!) to share feedback. The Community team, Anne Young and Lizzy Roberts will review feedback from this group and work with you all to make your community experience the best it can be!

Hi .org Community, I'm checking in on a Thurs instead of Friday as I'm out tomorrow

Each week, we highlight wins from the week and take a look at what's on deck next week.

First off -- I want to start by addressing the tragedy in Texas this week; to ignore this and skip right into highlights/shoutouts felt wrong.

You may have seen Marc's tweet (HERE) where he shares his feelings on the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, "I’m so sad. My love is with all of my family & friends in Texas. May the One who brings Peace bring Peace to All." Today, I wish to give a moment of space to honor the Texas community. Even if you aren't in Texas, or the US for that matter, I know our community is suffering and I want to recognize that. That's all I'll say on this but wanted to acknowledge this week's events.

Moving on to a few positive moments from this week:

  • Shout out @Terry Cole for sharing the Summer 2022 Candy for Nonprofits Cloud (Power of Ten) Organizations (Top 5) post that highlights the top 5 features for nonprofits from the latest release. See the post HERE. Thank you, Terry, for breaking this down for us!
  • Shout out to all the upcoming speakers, presenters, etc for the Community Conferences aka Dreamin events -- these are community-led conferences and it's amazing to see so many of our .org community represented (as the audience for these are often a mix of for-profit and nonprofit!). I can't wait to tune in @Mark Jones @Melissa Hill Dees @Trish Perkins @Doria Hamelryk and many more at Czech Dreamin.

See more info about upcoming in-person opportunities:

  • Community Conferences - Learn about upcoming "Dreamin" Events across the globe (ex in AMER: Atlanta, Raleigh, Portland, etc, in EMEA: London, Prague, Amsterdam, Albania, in APAC: India) see community conferences listed HERE.
  • World Tours / Connections - There are a number of Salesforce-led events coming back in person as well - that is what makes these different from the Community Conferences mentioned above, which are led by the community, in case you were wondering!, see Salesforce-led events HERE

A few other things to keep an eye on:

FINALLY, I wanted to remind you all of the @Salesforce.org Community Feedback group. Do you have feedback you want to share? What would you like to see more or less of? Or if you don't want to post openly, please know that @Anne Young, @Angel de Vera, and I are always here for you and welcome feedback about how we can provide the best, most valuable solutions to you in this community that we can! Also, our emails are also always open if you prefer email, Community@salefsorce.org or directly lizzy.roberts@salesforce.com, we are here for you.

Alrighty, my novel is over. Does anyone have anything else to share this week or want to give anyone some extra love? Share in the comments!

Thank you so much for sharing this.  As an educator, I have loved using Amplify's products.  This type of study group is exactly the support that I needed!

@Ben Bromberg thanks for this feedback. I'm going to be looking into this and ensuring that our documentation reflects what is happening. Appreciate you raising this as a concern.

New topics to help filter unanswered questions

Remind me, what’s happening?

We had gotten feedback that it’s been difficult to filter through nonprofit and education-specific unanswered questions within the greater Trailblazer Community.

Your feedback

In order to help create a place where you can see a single list of questions/updates, we asked for your feedback via a poll to name a topic (one for nonprofit and one for education), where you will be able to see unanswered questions in a single feed. The winning topic names that you voted on are #NonprofitHelp and #EducationHelp.

Going Forward

These topics will be added to questions that need to be answered or are outstanding in some way. Then the community (you all!) can simply browse this one topic feed. When the question is answered, we will remove the topic from the question, so this means this feed should only have questions that need to be reviewed or are outstanding in some capacity.

Where to find these topics:

  1. Navigate to NonprofitHelp (bookmark + follow)
  2. Navigate to EducationHelp (bookmark + follow)

You can also find these Featured Topics under Feed and Topics tabs:

  1. Community Tab > Feed > Questions > Featured Other Topics > NonprofitHelp or EducationHelp
  2. Community Tab > Topics > Featured Topics > Other > NonprofitHelp or EducationHelp

NOTE: I recommend clicking on “Questions with No Best Answer” — as we often comment on questions or add groups and topics if you click on just “Unanswered Questions” nothing will show up. “Questions with No Best Answer” is a way to see questions that still need attention.

New topics to help filter unanswered questions Remind me, what’s happening?

Let us know if you have any questions!

Feedback Requested: I'd like your help with topics/feed filtering!

Hi all! We’ve gotten feedback that it’s difficult to filter through unanswered questions and so we’ve come up with an idea to help consolidate all nonprofit conversations (and education) within the greater Trailblazer Community.

At the moment, you can go to Community Tab > Feed > Filter by “Unanswered Questions” and then choose a topic (ex. #nonprofit) to filter down. However, we realize there are multiple nonprofit topics, which can silo out the questions. Also, if you select some topics, there may be unrelated posts that show up on that topic.

In order to help create a place where you can see a single list of all (for example) nonprofit questions/updates, our thought is to create a single topic that we will add to all unanswered questions so you could select one filter and see ALL nonprofit questions, for example.

Which of these makes the most sense/resonates with you? We brainstormed these three but if you have others, feel free to add them to the comments!

  • #Nonprofit Queue
  • #Nonprofit Help
  • #Nonprofit Professionals
  • Any other ideas? Add in the comments!

I'll add these ideas into the comments and you can 'like' the one you think is best! (Or, again you can always add your own idea:). Thanks!

💥It's Friday! On Fridays, we share #FridayShoutOut and take a look at what's on deck next week in the community.

#FridayShoutOut to @Terry Cole for sharing the amazing "Top Ten Nonprofit Candy Spring 2022" aka tips from the upcoming Spring Release, definitely check it out if you have not! Also, make sure to join the Release Readiness groups for release highlights related to nonprofits + education organizations:

#FridayShoutOut to everyone who has voted on this post about creating a central feed for unanswered questions to help folks navigate the community. If you haven't voted yet, take a look at the comments and vote on your preference! Thanks, @David Cheng @Steve Molis @Katherine West for helping identify and positively brainstorm solutions for how to make our SFDO Hub within the Trailblazer community a bit easier to navigate :)

A few things to keep an eye on:

  • We are hosting a Housewarming Party on February 3. Registration is now live, so definitely check it out and reserve a spot! (Full agenda to come). Register now!
  • Want to stay in the loop on feedback and community requests? Check out the @Salesforce.org Community Feedback group!
  • Check out events/webinars/upcoming resources in the @Nonprofit and Education MindShare group, @Bo McSwine posts Friday Weekly recaps, so keep an eye out for those!
  • NEW GROUP: @Coffee Chat --> join us on Fridays at 8 am PT / 11 am ET / 4 pm GMT to connect with the community (mainly social! come to say hi! very casual). Details in the group description.

Finally -- Monday, Jan 17 is Martin Luther King Jr. Day in the US. While I un1derstand all may not celebrate or recognize this holiday, I did want to take a moment to call it out! I'm sure there will be more resources coming out on Monday but see how Salesforce supported MLK day last year and what being an Ally at Salesforce means!

Alrighty, that's all for this week! Does anyone else have a #FridayShoutOut to give?

Welcome, Salesforce.org Hub to the Trailblazer Community!

Today we are thrilled to welcome our nonprofit & education Trailblazers from the Salesforce.org Power of Us Hub into the Trailblazer Community!

  • Where do find your groups?
    • Find Nonprofit groups under the Nonprofit Cloud filter
    • Find Education groups under the Education Cloud filter
    • Find all groups from the Hub in the Quip doc here that will live in the group details of the Customer Hub group — this shows you where groups that were migrated from the Hub and where they live know here in the Trailblazer Community.
  • Still want to learn about our new home? Review the recordings from the latest Launch & Learn webinar sessions from over the past few weeks.
  • How to access Salesforce.org specific documentation + knowledge articles
    • Until Nov 23 — you can still access knowledge articles by opening an incognito browser and navigating to the knowledge tab
    • After Nov 23 — you will be able to view knowledge articles also on the knowledge tab but will not need the incognito window.
    • At some point (no date set yet) the knowledge base will be migrated into help & training, but no date is set for that yet!

Our new home base is this group, the Salesforce.org Customer Hub Group to learn more! Please share any feedback in → @Salesforce.org Community Feedback

never mind @Lizzy Roberts just saw your response to TJ on the other post. We were in similar dilemmas! I see now where i need to go to get that faceted search I want. (The questions tab, not the following tab). If I use the Nonprofit Cloud under Featured Products, that will get all the sub-products right, like NPSP, etc?  Thanks!

Hi all! FYI This is the group we were using pre-migration to gather feedback about our new home and the migration in general -- so same group, updated name!   Just wanted to touch base as it's been a few weeks since the migration took place!

Group Filters:

  • I've been adding groups to the following group filters to help folks navigate around the Trailblazer Community, as I know it can be overwhelming!
  • Are there any other groups you'd like me to add to the filter list that you think would be valuable for others to have there? I tried to include all product groups + groups where folks ask the most questions (ex. sys admins, etc).
  • Nonprofit groups under the Nonprofit Cloud filter
  • Education groups under the Education Cloud filter
  • Also, My Groups is a good one to keep an eye on so you can see all your groups at a glance.

I recommend bookmarking these filter links ^^ so you can easily navigate to groups without having to do a million clicks or search the greater community if you are trying to find something specific.

Office Hours:

  • A reminder that we have a 3rd office hour session this Weds for Q&A about the community/any questions about our new home -- come join and we can chat and also brainstorm!

Save the date!

  • The last few weeks we’ve been focused on wrapping up the data migration and fixing errors, etc
  • In the new year, we want to kick off 2022 with a bang and to make sure everyone here feels enabled!
  • We are still getting details together, but in the meantime — save the Date: Thurs, Feb 3 @ 8 am PT / 4 pm GMT, likely 2 hours

We know with a massive migration like we just did there will be time for adjustment — where to find everything and how to navigate, and that’s ok! Just know that we are here for you and we welcome all your suggestions! It’s going to take time until we all feel comfortable here.  We welcome any feedback in this group and me and @Anne Young are always happy to have a chat! <3

I would like more consistency around which groups are tagged as "featured" and which ones are marked as "Salesforce led".  My other related concern is about new nonprofit users finding the most important groups, like Release Readiness. What's the experience like for the customer who joins for the first time tomorrow?

Hi All -- we are now a few days post-migration so wanted to touch base!

As you know, the Power of Us Hub migrated into the Trailblazer Community as of Monday, Nov 15. Woohoo! We’ve seen a few questions come up so wanted to address those below.

1) How do I view Salesforce.org Documentation + Best Practice Articles?

  • Context: All knowledge articles including product documentation and best practice articles still remain in the Hub.
  • Until Nov 23 — you can still access knowledge articles by opening an incognito browser and then navigating to the knowledge page: https://powerofus.force.com/s/knowledge
  • After Nov 23 — you will be able to view knowledge articles as normal (do not need the incognito window). Also, as of Nov 23, there will be a landing page that will point you to the Trailblazer community (and the knowledge tab will be accessible for documentation).
  • At some point (no date set yet) the knowledge base will be migrated into help & training, but no date yet.

2) Where do I find all the groups from the Hub?

  • Find Nonprofit groups under the Nonprofit Cloud filter
  • Find Education groups under the Education Cloud filter
  • Find all groups from the Hub in the Quip doc here that will live in the group details of the Customer Hub group — this shows you where groups that were migrated from the Hub and where they live know here in the Trailblazer Community.

3) I don’t see my group from the Hub, where is it?

  • You can search for groups in the Community → Groups Tab HERE (make sure you select “All Groups” tab)
  • If you cannot find your group in the community, and you also cannot see your group on this list in the Quip doc then that means it was not migrated. We completed the group audit over the summer so it is likely that groups that were not migrated were created after the audit was completed.
  • If your group was not migrated but you’d still like a group, don’t worry! We can help you set up a new one :)
  • As of next Tuesday (Nov 23), the community team will regain access to Hub backend data (which was put into maintenance mode for the migration + 1 week following) and can help those who want new groups to create new groups in the Trailblazer Community — we can share with you who the members from the Hub were so they can invite them to the new group. Please DM me, @Lizzy Roberts, if you’d like help!

4) I don’t see my profile data from the Hub?

  • Your Power of Us Hub profile was mapped to your Trailblazer Community profile matched by email + data of recent activity. We asked all Hubbers in the months prior to the migration to confirm your primary user in the Hub and this profile is what was matched to your Trailblazer Community profile.
  • If you have questions about your Trailblazer ID (TBID) please contact Trailhead Help.

5) I’m lost, is there enablement to help me navigate the new community?

  • I know settling into this new community can be overwhelming, we are here to help!
  • @Anne Young, @Bo McSwine and I hosted two “Launch & Learn” webinar sessions before the migration to help folks get situated in the new community. You can find the recordings to those on the Salefsorce.org YouTube channel HERE.

6) Can I still access the Power of Us Hub?

  • The Power of Us Hub has officially migrated, so there is no way to access the Power of Us Hub, as of November 15.
  • What is still accessible is knowledge, which will live in the Hub until it also migrates (no date set yet). See Question 1 for the update on how to view knowledge.
  • There will be a banner “we’ve migrated” until Nov 23, and then there will a landing page that points to our new home.

Overall — Anne, Bo and I are here to help YOU! We know there are a lot of changes happening and it can be a bit overwhelming but we are here and everything will become more familiar as we get settled in :)  Thanks, everyone for your patience!

Reminder: The Power of Us Hub migration to the Trailblazer Community is coming up! [Monday, November 15]

The time has almost arrived — this is the last week of the Hub as we know it. The Power of Us Hub will be migrating into the Trailblazer Community effective next Monday, November 15.

A few upcoming dates to keep in mind:

  • As of Friday, Nov 12, the Hub will go into Read-Only mode (around 10 am PT), which means you will not be able to create any new posts/questions/comments. This is happening because our tech team will be starting to process the migration over the weekend so come Monday morning, all the data is moved over to its new home.
  • As of Monday, Nov 15, the Hub will be migrated into the Trailblazer Community! This will be the place to ask questions/comment/engage in the community going forward.

What you can do to prepare for the migration:

  • 1) Log in to the Trailblazer Community
    • If you have never logged into the Trailblazer Community and someone tries to click on your name (for example if there was a post that migrated from the Hub to the Trailblazer Community and you were @ mentioned) it will result in an error message.
    • To avoid encountering this kind of error message, please log in to the Trailblazer Community. If you have already logged in before, you should be all set.
    • If you’ve noticed an issue with your user during login, please contact support.
  • 2) Attend or watch a “Launch & Learn” session!

HOMESTRETCH! Let us know if you have any questions😎

Hi @Benji Berlow thanks for reaching out! I reached out to Rachel Natik, the owner of the Congregation Connect app about the migration but did not hear back from her in time so the group was not migrated. I would be happy to help you set up a new group if you'd like? As of next Tues, Nov 23, I will have access to view Hub data again and can share with you who the members were and that kind of thing so you can re-create? Let me know! :)
