#In-App Guidance0 discussing

My org has approximately 3K users, but my prompts appear to only be displaying to half of my users. Here are the settings I use for my prompts:

  • Type: Docked Prompt
  • Location: Home
  • Start: 7/9/2021 and End: 7/15/2021 (I always set these 7 days from start to end)
  • Show when the page loads: Checked
  • Times to Show: 2
  • Days In Between: 1
  • Profiles: No profile restrictions
  • Permissions: No permission restrictions

The setting for Delay Between In-App Guidance is set to Custom at 0 Hours and 0 Minutes. In my org we do not want a cooling down period for our prompts.

Why would the prompts only have approximately 1,500 views? Also, this view count is from the In-App Guidance page in Setup, not a report. I realize that a user may have been counted more than once in that number.

Im am trying to complete the "Create prompts in Lightning Experience" hands on exercise but get the following error message:

We can't find a trusted url for Salesforce Help in your orgHowever I have added sf help as a trusted url during the learning already:

I have also tried adding the https:// in front to no avail.

Any suggestion for solving this?

    Hi @Arnoud van den Dobbelsteen,

the issue is that the setup menu is displayed in lightning andthere you are missing the save button. Try to do the step in "Salesfocre Classic".

    Hope that still helped. ;)

I have created an In-App Guidance (New User Walkthrough) in our demo org.   How would I get this guidance into new Customer orgs other than rebuilding it each time?     Any guidance would be appreciated.

    Hi @Jim Piatt,

You can deploy In-App Guidance by creating the package xml. The metadata API entry is Prompt.

You can follow this URL for more information.

Hope its going to resolve the issue. please let me know if the problem persists.

    Thanks.

Hi,

Is it possible for end-users to manually start In-App Guidance? I assumed it was possible by clicking the ? next to the ⚙️ but that only shows the Standard Salesforce items (see attachement)

I want to create a walk through for new users, but I don't want to annoy them with pop-ups. I want them to able to start the walk through on their own, just like it's possible with the Standard Salesforce Help items.

    Hi @Jagmohan Singh

    This is sort of possible.

What you can do is schedule the your In-App Guidance to show 1 time.

And get the shareable link and add it to the Help Menu (?).

When users click on the shareable link, the URL opens even if the user previously viewed or closed the in-app guidance, clicked the action button, or isn’t a part of the profile or permission set.

To add the In-App Guidance to the Help Menu, get the shareable link of the prompt or walkthrough from the In-App Guidance Settings, then add it to the Help Menu.

Search 'Help Menu' in the Quick Find in Setup.

I'm looking to add in-app guidance but it seems that it is only available for 1 app through which I've set that up, can we make it global and not have restricted to only one app?

Any help would be appropriate!

Thank you!

Can we create in-app guidance on a custom lightning component page?  If that's not possible, can it be done using the custom popovers from SLDS?

Does anyone know if a Back or Previous button can be added to a Walkthrough, in addition to the default Next button, to allow users to view the previous step?

In-App Guidance - Walkthrough

Hi Gustavo - there is currently no Previous button in a walkthrough because of the complexity of knowing if the previous state exists or is in the same configuration.  e.g., the previous step may have been to make a change to the UI where that walkthrough step no longer is available or makes sense.  This is on the roadmap.  Thanks

I want to create a prompt for our users to update contact details when they are viewing the contact record.  This will be dependent on our custom field 'last validated date', for example only show the prompt if the contact was last validated over 3 months ago.

Since the OOB In-App guidance cannot be driven by a field value, what would be a good workaround to create this prompt? #In-App Guidance #Update Contact

We want to remind our users that if they move the oppty to a certain stage then certain fields become locked and cannot be changed.  The guidance seems to show any time a different stage is chosen and before clicking on the Mark Stage as Complete button.  #In-App Guidance

Hi all,

I can't find the information anywhere, but do you know if we can track clicks on links inside a prompt (In App Guidance) body?

I've seen that we can track clicks on CTA, if it has been dismissed, closed or snoozed, but what about links in the text area (for example if I click on 'link' in the image below)?

Track clicks In App Guidance prompt text area

Thanks
