Professional Edition to Enterprise

It's well known there are considerable gaps between PE and EE. To those living in PE, EE is the promised land. Those in EE, you just want to hug the ones hoping to jump out of PE. The intent of this group is for PE's to have a safe place to ask questions as they try selling an upgrade to their chain of command, as well as for alums of the process to share materials and "quick win" tips and to field those questions. Please spread the word and help this cause grow!

Hi

To who is using professional edition...

  1. Can you use data loader?
  2. Do you have limitations in coding?
  3. Can you use the lightning version?
  4. How many page layouts you can have per object? SF help is not explicit
  5. Does related list field history work?

Thank you

    1. Can you use data loader? - Yes
    2. Do you have limitations in coding? - You cannot write apex in professional addition
    3. Can you use the lightning version? - Yes
    4. How many page layouts you can have per object? SF help is not explicit -- Salesforce recommends creating NO more than 200 page layouts. While there is no limit, organizations may have difficulty managing their page layouts if they exceed 200.   Check this one @ https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sf.layouts_tips.htm&type=5
    5. Does related list field history work? - Yes

I just found this group @Dale Ziegler! Yay!!

I need some confirmation please, it looks like today in PE Admins CAN Import via the Data Import Wizard into the following Standard Objects, BUT not Opportunities? Is that correct?

  • Accounts and Contacts
  • Leads
  • Solutions
  • Campaign Members

Also, can you import into "any" Custom Object?

Hello Commmunity,

I've come across with the Professional Limitation that is not possible to use  Custom Fields for forecasting.

So i think i have to use an Report for forecasting and then  Filter according the custom Field.

I tried to create an Report based on the Category Forecast ...

So far so good but what i can't find is the Field "Closed" in the Forecast Categories or in the Section "Forecastelements"

Do i overlook sth. or is this Field not availiable ...

regards  john

Happy Friday everyone! Our company have upgraded to Enterprise from Professional (Yay). So I was just wondering if anyone could share with me some functionality that they have found super helpful that wasn't available in other editions? I have been referring to the Sales Cloud Edition Comparison chart, but some actual examples the community is using would be epic!

Hey Guys

I have an idea to make my own "Sandbox-Instance"  with the help of the Salesforce Dataloader.

My approach was to make an export from our prod-system and integrate the csv files to an blank  dev-instance.

But due to the circumstance that the dev-prod has  a little bit plenty of space i have to sort out some Records

to reduce the size.

So my thinking about that was to open the csv files with a lot of records ( accounts, opps, cases etc.) and reduce the record amount to an minimum.

Could that work in this way ?

And i need all csv which are releavant for the intern salesforce mechansims ( workflows validation rules etc.)

Does anyone know which CSV Files are used for what ?

regards john

We just upgraded from Group to Professional Edition and need to start quoting out of Salesforce. What is the best free app in the AppExchange if we're only creating opportunities to quote? No invoicing or inventory management involved. Thanks for your advice!

Hopefully some day Dale... It was a big step for us to move to Professional so I'm happy with this for now.
