Hi there. We are standing up Marketing Cloud Growth to replace an MCE. In MCE we could authenticate our root domain to use our "normal business email addresses" as senders (but RMM features and all other tracking/URLs used the subdomain). I understand in MCG it is a best practice to authenticate a subdomain but then it requires that any of our sending email address must need to receive mail (to validate). We have never configured our email service (Microsoft 365) to receive mail on a subdomain. How have others dealt with this problem. Does anyone take a chance on using the main "root" business domain for this purpose. Or is it a simple matter for the IT Team to allow for inbound mail on a subdomain that is exclusive to marketing cloud. Can you alias an email address on a subdomain to an existing mailbox? Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

Hi Tim,
We usually go for the root domain. Managing subdomains introduces extra-complexity that makes the benefits (deliverability and reputation) less obvious.
Hope this helps 😎
