If you have taken the Salesforce Certified Slack Consultant exam:  How did you study?  Did you take a class from ???    If you took a class and was not happy with , please let me know which class you took?  I am thinking about taking the exam - any helpful tips would be appreciated.

    Hello Brett,

The Salesforce Certified Slack Consultant exam is mainly scenario-based, so it’s less about memorizing features and more about understanding how to recommend the right Slack solution for a customer. I’d start with the official Trailhead certification prep, focus on areas like Policies & Settings, Learning & Enablement, Governance, Slack Connect, and Enterprise Grid, and get some hands-on practice wherever possible. On the exam, think like a consultant: choose the solution that is scalable, secure, and easy to manage rather than a manual workaround. This would be my suggestion! Hope this helps!

We are seeing a repeating error from the Salesforce Slack app whenever a user posts a message in Slack. The message in the channel is delivered normally, but the author also gets an ephemeral error in the Salesforce app DM.

Error (Only visible to you):

There was a problem processing the Slack event MESSAGE_EVENT ErrorType: NullPointerException

This happens on every message typed directly in Slack.

Please advise how to stop the Salesforce app from sending these errors (configuration, scopes/event subscription, or a known platform issue). If the user sends a message from Salesforce, this error does not occur and everything works correctly;

We don’t have a custom Apex Slack app: no .slackapp / SlackApp metadata, no class extending Slack.EventDispatcher, and Apex Slack App User Setup is empty (no System User / Unmapped User row). The only Slack Apex in the org is SDO demo code (Slack Mission Control: org link / bundles), which is not subscribed to message events.

The ephemeral error comes from the first-party Salesforce app in Slack (Messages tab, “Sending messages to this app has been turned off”), on every message typed in Slack. Salesforce -> Slack does not trigger it.

So there is no handler where we can null-check getUser() / getText(), and we can’t remove message from Event Subscriptions — that app isn’t ours on api.slack.com.

If the same NPE string is also used when Salesforce’s own inbound handler throws, that would explain it. Any idea how to stop or debug that without a custom SlackApp?

⛰️🛡️ New Hands-on Workshop for Premier & Signature Developers: Secure the Code: Find and Fix Vulnerabilities (DEX003)

Insecure custom code is one of the leading causes of data breaches. In this 90-minute instructor-led workshop, you'll step into the role of a security-focused developer to audit and remediate critical vulnerabilities in Lightning components and Apex classes through a series of challenges.

This hands-on workshop teaches developers how to prevent script injection, encrypt data securely, manage secrets, and control record access. You'll also learn to identify authentication flaws and data exposure risks. this practical workshop is for developers working with custom code at any stage:

  • Build new code — learn to bake in secure patterns from the start, so vulnerabilities never make it to production
  • Review existing code — sharpen your eye for spotting injection flaws, insecure data handling, and access control gaps in code you didn't write
  • Maintain and harden production orgs — Use the Developer Console or VS Code to apply Salesforce platform security best practices that protect applications from evolving threats

Sessions are live and available! :calendar:

This is a great hands-on initiative for Salesforce developers. Security is often overlooked during development, so learning how to identify and fix vulnerabilities in Apex and Lightning components is extremely valuable. The practical, challenge-based approach makes this especially useful for developers working on real-world orgs.

The pricing changes are pretty clear, and it’s good to see AI features being included across the paid plans. The Salesforce Channels addition should also make things easier for teams already using both platforms. The Business+ price increase will be an important consideration for some teams.

We are facing a limitation with the Slack sandbox (developer environment), where the user limit is restricted to 8 members. For our use case, this is quite limiting, as we want to perform realistic UAT and integration testing that closely mirrors our production environment.

I have a couple of questions:

  1. Are there any options or recommended approaches to create a sandbox/testing environment that more closely resembles a production Enterprise Grid setup (in terms of users, apps, and integrations)?
  2. How are other organizations handling large-scale testing given the sandbox user limit?
  3. What are the best practices or enterprise-level strategies for testing Slack + Salesforce integrations before going live?

Any guidance, real-world experiences, or recommended approaches would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

This is a good point about the challenge of testing Slack + Salesforce integrations at enterprise scale. With an 8-member sandbox limit, using a combination of focused integration tests, representative test users, and staged UAT seems like a practical way to identify issues before production.

For smaller customization needs during UAT, tools such as espaço invisível para copiar e colar can also be useful when testing how different text formats, usernames, or messages behave across Slack and other platforms.

Hi there! Happy to join this community😊

I build an incident management app and I'd like to keep a channel canvas title in sync with the incident status. I've been able to create the canvas through the API but the following updates of the canvas title don't get reflected in the canvas tab name.

The only workaround I found is to manually clear the tab name so that it get in sync with the canvas title.

I couldn't find a way to do it through the API.

Is this a known limitation of the API..? I guess it's a niche topic 😅

Thanks for your help!

    Hey Sebastien,

Not a bug in your API usage, this is a genuine gap. The canvases.edit rename operation with title_content updates the canvas's underlying title, but Slack's channel canvas tab has a separate, independently-set "tab name" property. That tab name gets set once (typically when the canvas is first added to a tab) and doesn't automatically re-sync to the canvas title afterward, which matches exactly what you're seeing: manually clearing the tab name forces it to re-sync, but API-based title renames don't propagate to it.

I couldn't find any Slack API method (canvases.edit, canvases.sections.lookup, conversations.canvases.create) that exposes or resets the tab name specifically, only the canvas title itself. So this looks like a genuine limitation, not something you're missing, there's no documented API method for touching the tab name independently.

Worth filing this as a bug/feature request via Slack's developer support, since the manual "clear the tab name" workaround you found is really a UI-only re-sync trigger that has no API equivalent yet.

I've tried many times to create a developper sanbox from this link : Developer Edition org with the product specialist agent

in the challenge : Prepare Your Agentforce and Slack Orgs.

I did not receive any Verify email as it supposed to be. I have no error, no logs. Nothing to analyse.

Only this picture :

Prepare Your Agentforce and Slack Orgs - impossible to create a Developer Edition org with the product specialist agent.

Do you have any idea of the issue please ? I am not able to complete this challenge. Thanks for your help !

Hi! We are using Salesforce Channels in Slack for Cases. One team only works in Slack, and the other team only works in Salesforce. The feed is connected for the cases and comms are flowing, but the Salesforce end user is not receiving notifications when a new message is sent in the channel (they are used to the Chatter functionality). Is there a solve for this? Thanks in advance!

@Kristan Escobar for the specific message in channel, you can click the 3 dots - more actions.. and you will see an option " Send to Salesforce ". This will help send the message as a chatter feed to the case record in salesforce. By that the salesforce end user will get correct chatter feed
