I have a dashboard based on multiple published Cloud data sources -

Primary

= Agent Daily Structure

Blended to

multiple KPI data sources on staff number and date only

The end user wants to see multiple KPIs on a dashboard page showing the grand total and then splitting the agents into quartiles (just the 4 totals showing).  They then want to be able to use filters to change the month or drill down/by department/manager etc to which the quartiles will re-adjust.

I tried building my initial data source in Prep, as all of the sources are already published to Cloud, with left joins on staff number and date to the primary data source and cleaning up, rather than the 'blends' but the agent-level totals for the KPIs did not reconcile against the data source in isolation, before even trying quartile calculations, hence trying it the 'blended way'.  This is giving correct agent and grand totals.

I have tried various ChatGPT suggestions but none of them work (sometimes its a great AI tool, but in this case no!).  I've not been able to find anything in forum posts/guides that seems to suit my scenario.   Can you help?

This one 90% works using a DATETRUNC to 'month-date' blend on each data source, rather than individual date - QA score

Fixed LOD Calc 1

=

{ FIXED [Agent ID] , [DateTrunc - Month]: (AVG([Evaluation Score])/100) }

Creating the Quartile groups

=

IF [Fixed LOD - QA] <= { PERCENTILE([Fixed LOD - QA], 0.25) } THEN "Q4 - Bottom Performers"

    ELSEIF [Fixed LOD - QA] <= { PERCENTILE([Fixed LOD - QA], 0.50) } THEN "Q3 - Coaching Needs"

    ELSEIF [Fixed LOD - QA] <= { PERCENTILE([Fixed LOD - QA], 0.75) } THEN "Q2 - Good Performers"

    ELSEIF [Fixed LOD - QA] > { PERCENTILE([Fixed LOD - QA], 0.75) } THEN "Q1 - Top Performers"

    END

Quartile groups on rows, QA score on column and the text mark to display in columns.  This works 90% for QA score (the totals for each Q at least look reasonable and adjust when filtering) - the odd agent appears under the wrong quartile when adding agents to the view to check the quartile calc/sorting highest to lowest.  But if I try the same calc on another Quality metric in the same data source it doesn't work at all - its grouped everyone under the bottom 2 quartiles.

I've tried multiple ChatGPT suggestions using Windows_Percentile and Rank_Percentile and using the staff number or staff number and date on the 'detail mark' and keeping the first row, but none of these work.

I need a reliable way to split agent performance on a KPI into quartiles using this blended data source, that can be filtered.  Surely something like it exists/its not an impossible ask!!  TIA

    Hi @Kirsty Barlow

Your quartile logic itself looks fine. I tested the same pattern (FIXED [Agent ID] -> FIXED PERCENTILE -> IF ... <= cut-off) in a single data source with sample data, and it splits 120 agents evenly into four groups of 30. So I would look at these two things:

    1. The metric that "groups everyone under the bottom 2 quartiles" probably has many tied values. If more than 25% of agents share the same value (e.g. 100%), the 25/50/75% cut-offs become identical and "<=" puts all of them in the lower groups. In my test, 60% of the agents scored 100: 90 agents landed in Q3, 30 in Q4, and none in Q1/Q2. No value-based split can separate tied agents, so use a tie-breaker (e.g. a second metric added as a tiny weight) or treat that value as its own group.

    2. The quartiles not re-adjusting properly is likely related to the blend. FIXED LODs ignore dimension filters unless the filters are context filters, and LODs on secondary-source fields are computed within the secondary source. I would combine the data in one source (in Prep, aggregate each KPI source to one row per staff number + date before joining, to avoid duplicated rows) and then right-click your Month / Department / Manager filters and choose "Add to Context".

I attached a small workbook with synthetic data: sheet 1 is your calculation in a single data source, sheet 2 shows the tie case.

Good afternoon.

I need your help, please.

We maintain a standard color scheme for our dashboards. For filters, we use dark blue as the background color of the filter text box (the box that displays the selected value) and white for the font.

Out of nowhere, our already published workbooks changed the background color of the filter text boxes to white, while the font remains light. I've run several tests: I downloaded the workbooks, confirmed the colors, and republished them, but the background color is still not being kept.

I also tested in Web Edit: there, the text box background color displays correctly, but when I view the published result online, the text box turns white again. The problem persists.

Environment: Tableau Cloud (

https://us-east-1.online.tableau.com/

). The issue appears only on the web.

I've confirmed that my application is up to date.

There are more than 100 workbooks with multiple sheets, and several users are complaining and opening support tickets because it's hard to read the information in the filters and parameters.

Desktop/Web Editor:

PT-BR:

Boa tarde.

O problema permanece.

Ambiente: Tableau Cloud (

https://us-east-1.online.tableau.com/

). O problema aparece somente na web.

Confirmei que meu aplicativo está atualizado.

São mais de 100 projetos com diversas abas, e vários usuários estão reclamando e abrindo chamados devido à dificuldade de enxergar as informações dos filtros e parâmetros.

I have tried Tableau Desktop version 2025.1 and 2026.2 and both get the error. I believe Tableau batches the jobs and i see the successful batches come through to the Tableau server but it never gets a failed job- meaning the HTTP conflict never made it to the Tableau server. is there some known issue with Tableau desktop or slow network issues with Tableau or is this a personal network issue?

Publishing sometimes gets us an HTTP Conflict error

I am using the Tableau table viz extension and when I click on the "Format Extension" button, the "Show Column Filters" option does not appear. Below is what I see and I have also attached a test workbook to show this. I am on the latest version 2026.2.3.

Tableau tableau viz extension column filter option not appearing

This is what I would expect to see based on everything I have looked at online.

Is there something else I am missing or has this functionality been removed?

Thank you in advance for your help.

@Christie Smith looks like it's been moved to Table Settings.  Click on the icon for Table Settings, just above the column headers and you'll see the dialog box containing the function you're looking for:looks like it's been moved to Table Settings. If this response answered your question, please mark it as an Accepted Answer?

 Hi Tableau Community,

We are experiencing an issue with dashboard navigation in Tableau Cloud after upgrading to version 2026.3. Below are the details of the issue.

1. Workbook Details

  • Our workbook contains four dashboards: Dashboard 1, Dashboard 2, Dashboard 3, Dashboard 4.
  • Each dashboard has navigation buttons for all four dashboards.
  • Users can click these buttons to navigate from one dashboard to another.

2. Issue

  • Before the Tableau Cloud 2026.3 upgrade, all navigation buttons were working as expected.
  • After the upgrade, clicking any navigation button causes a pop-up to appear and remain on the screen.
  • The navigation does not complete, and the user cannot access the selected dashboard.

3. Observations

  • The pop-up displays messages such as:
    • Processing request
    • Computing models
    • Preparing results
  • The pop-up continues spinning without completing the request.
  • After approximately one hour, an error appears.

4. Questions

  • Has anyone experienced a similar issue after upgrading to Tableau Cloud 2026.3?
  • Could this be related to the recent Tableau Cloud upgrade?
  • Are there any settings, known issues, or workarounds we should check to resolve this problem?

Any suggestions or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

    Hi,

I created two simple dashboards as a test and set up navigation between them. The navigation appears to be working correctly in Tableau Cloud 2026.3.0. To help isolate the issue, could you try reproducing this behavior in your environment as well?

If the simple workbook works as expected, I think the next step will be to investigate and isolate the differences between it and your workbook. Depending on the findings, we may need to open a support case and have Salesforce support assist with further investigation.

Hello everyone,

I'm experiencing an issue with Tableau 2021.1 on my gaming laptop [https://www.lenovo.com/ca/en/d/gaming-laptops]. Every time I try to load a data source, the software freezes and stops responding. I've tried reinstalling the software and restarting my laptop, but the issue persists.

I'm running Windows 10 on my gaming laptop, and I have a NVIDIA GeForce GTX graphics card. I'm not sure if this is a compatibility issue or if there's something else going on. Has anyone else experienced this issue or have any suggestions for a solution?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Since reinstalling didn’t help, it might be worth checking whether Tableau is using the dedicated NVIDIA GPU or the integrated graphics. Updating the graphics driver and testing with hardware acceleration disabled could also help narrow down the issue.

I have a very large workbook that has several hyper files as data sources.  I have checked each worksheet in this workbook and I do not have context filters in place.  However, every time I filter a specific hyper file by academic year, it appears to add that to context and will not change the filter when I try to change to another year.  It is also filtering other workbooks connected to that same hyper file.  For example, if I filter my large workbook to academic year 2023 and then try to show all academic years in a completely separate workbook referencing the same hyper file, it will still only show the 2023 year.  I don't understand why this is happening and I don't know how to correct it.  Has anyone else seen this behavior?  Do you know a way to correct it?

    Hi,@haruto nakamura

thank you for your response. One suggestion for future reference: combining related explanations into a single post, rather than splitting them across multiple posts, would make it easier for the person asking the question to follow the steps and understand how they connect. I would appreciate it if you could consider this as a way to make your answers easier to read.

Hi, I have several charts. For example, 2025 is yellow and 2026 is green. Then I extract refresh the dashboard and all the colors change: 2025 is red and 2026 is blue. After that, I change 2025 to yellow and 2026 to green, but when I extract refresh the colors change again to red and blue. This happens on Tuesday, on Monday all is fine.

I try to update Tableau desktop or create new graph, but it keeps happening.

    Hi @Dila Azuri,

Tableau saves custom colors against the exact value of the field on Color. If the value looks different after a refresh (a different data type, a trailing space, or a dynamic field like “Current Year”), Tableau treats it as new and gives default colors. Since it only happens on Tuesday, something in that day’s data probably changes.

    Try this:

    1. Put a fixed field on Color instead of the original field:
    STR(YEAR([Order Date]))

Set 2025 to yellow and 2026 to green again.

    1. Save or republish the workbook.
    2. After the next Tuesday refresh, compare the values in the legend with Monday’s. They should be identical.

If it still changes, please share your Tableau version and the field used on Color.
