#Hub Feedback0 discussing

*Update on private/direct messages from Hub 1.0* aka before the Hub's transition to Lightning.

What is happening:

As you may recall, when the Hub transitioned to Lightning back in April (Hub 2.0), private messages you had before the transition did not migrate into the new message tool as the functionality was not compatible in Lightning. The ability to send/receive private messages has not changed.

Many of you reached out requesting access to your old messages. Our tech team has been developing a process to move your old private messages from Hub 1.0 into your message inbox here in Hub 2.0. As a result, there will be a one-time bulk migration to bring your old messages from Hub 1.0 over to your message inbox in Hub 2.0 (current Hub).

What messages will appear in my message inbox?

  • Only messages where all users are still active users in the Hub.
    • For example, if you were messaging with someone who is no longer active, that message will not appear.
  • Old vs. new message threads including the same people:
    • If you already have a new message thread with a user/group of users, and you had a legacy message thread with the same set of user/users, you will see a new message thread within your message page that says 'Legacy Messages.' You can continue your conversation in either thread, but the messages within each thread will not be merged together.

Will I get any notifications about this?

  • Email notifications for direct messages will be temporarily disabled while the migration is occurring — this process will take ~2 hours to complete and will be done outside of normal business hours. We will restore your settings back to normal upon completion. Why? We don't want your email inbox to go crazy and get a million emails for each old message that is imported 😃
  • The notification bell in the top right corner of the Hub will reflect each message as a notification. If you all of a sudden see a very large number there, do not be alarmed! Simply click into the bell to dismiss all of these notifications.

When will this take place?

  • This migration is scheduled to start on Monday, July 1, 2019 after business hours (PDT). You will start to see your old messages in your Hub message inbox after that time.

*Important Update about Groups in the Hub*

What is happening:

As the Hub is continually evolving, we are evolving with it to suit the needs of the community as best we can. As a response to your feedback, we've decided to un-archive 4 groups:

  1. @Nonprofit Success Pack
  2. @Education Data Architecture
  3. @System Administrators
  4. @Ireland and United Kingdom

These are not new groups. These are existing groups that had been archived and the contents from which were remapped to Topics in April during the launch of #Hub 2.0. If you had been a member of these groups before April, you will remain as members. If you left the group, you will need to join it again.

Why we are doing this:

In our transition to Lightning back in April, our vision was to use topics primarily to organize content in the community and to facilitate conversation. We archived groups and remapped that content to related topics. However, there are certain limitations to topics and topic functionality (like a daily emailed digest), and given your feedback, we feel like bringing back some groups would benefit community engagement.

Overall, topics are not a replacement for groups, but rather will be here to supplement groups, help curate your feed to be relevant to you, and surface content on topic landing pages.

What's next?

To make sure you feel engaged in the Hub we are actively working on developing a custom Topic weekly digest feature based on your feedback. We expect to deliver this to you in the next month or so, but a specific release date has not yet been determined.

What about topics?

For now, topic landing pages will remain as-is. Topics are still a valuable part of Hub 2.0, as a way to organize content and personalize your feed. They will continue to serve as a place for you to find articles, conversations, discussions and content.

Thanks for your flexibility and continued #Hub Feedback! Let us know what questions you have :)

With Groups there's an option to "search this feed." With Topics that box does not exist. Is there a way to search within a Topic?

Hi @Brad Struss apologies on my delayed response, I was OOO for a few weeks!

There is currently not a "search" function on a topic landing page -- that is on our radar, but thanks for sharing the #Hub Feedback.

Hi everyone! It's the Friday before a long weekend, so before everyone heads out let's take a moment to reflect on the week and give a shout out to another community member who helped you out or just someone you think deserves some thanks!

#FridayShoutOut to everyone who passed the Education Cloud Consultant Certification this week! And even for those who may not have passed, but were a part of helping this get up and running, shout out to you too😎

This is the FIRST Education Cloud certification that recognizes consultants that specialize in #Education Cloud!

I saw a few posts on Twitter, but please share congrats to someone who also passed this, or any other certification, recently. Let's share the love! @Nash Zgonjanin @Elizabeth Aste  @Matthew Poe  @Tiffany Spencer  @Jace Bryan @Chris Pifer .... please @ mention other folks who I may not have listed!

I also want to give a #FridayShoutOut to the #Hub Heroes and #Salesforce MVPs here in the Hub who took the time to meet with @Anne Young @Judi Sohn @Cori O'Brien and myself this week to share feedback on #Hub 2.0 -- we appreciate everyones response and we do take your #Hub Feedback to heart.

If anyone ever has any feedback they want to share with us, the Community Team, please don't hesitate to reach out :) DM me, share on #Hub Feedback, email me lizzy.roberts@salesforce.com.

I'd like to give a well deserved shout out to @Trish Perkins who, in additional to all the super cool stuff she does, has been quietly working behind the scenes leading an amazing team of volunteers who are working on a new open source initiative for our community. I'm sure she'll have more to share leading up to the October sprint in Philly, but it could be a gamechanger for our international NGO's.

If you have a great idea you're considering sharing with the community, let me know as I'd love to chat!

I've asked questions about how to do something that I go back to all the time. However in this new HUB version, I can't seem to find my old questions and answers. Where do I find them?

I don't want a web only interface, but if you continue forward with web only, we need full slack functionality. That means being able to see how many new posts there are since last logon, marking posts as read or unread, etc. Working by email allowed us to do that in our inbox. But without email, you need to supply that functionality level. #Hub Feedback

As a interim solution, until and if topics catches up to group functionality in the platform features -- it's definitely NOT parity today--, I suggest you convert questions to a group. It's not a topic anyway. That way all the group functionality still works. You might also create an unanswered question group. Groups and topics can be used simultaneously. #Hub Feedback

@Terry Cole thanks for the feedback. You can view Unanswered Questions on Chatter > filter. What are you referring to when you say there is not parity today, specifically around questions?

I need to see not only posts to a topic but respones by "every email." I have subscribed to Questions and get all posts but I have no idea by email notification if there are answers yet or not. This prevents me from giving quick responses to people during a busy day since it takes at least 30 to 40 seconds to go find out via the logins and webs. #Hub Feedback
