Question from @Amy Enochs

Getting Started - What would you advise?

"I have a question regarding how best to use Professional version for our business model. Perhaps we over-purchased for our needs as the Group version may have been sufficient. We are a small company and have only 2 sales people who make visits to physicians’ offices, attend tradeshows, and handle inquiries from leads that come to us via calls or emails from web search and web advertising. The main issue is that we do not sell directly to the end user, per se. We expose people to our product and it’s unique benefits when used for babies’ medical nutrition needs (we manufacture organic baby formula). The end user (parents) are then purchasing the product through medical supply companies, pharmacies or through retail channels if not covered by insurance. Therefore, we do not have “closed deals” in the typical sense. We do have a few accounts who are Medical Suppliers and Distributors, though we do not offer take on new ones. My question then is how to best set up our work/sales flow and categorize new leads, especially when importing them. Should they just be contacts? Or should they be leads, even though they are basically pre-qualified once they contact us? The other question is how to use Opportunities, if at all, since we do not really “close” deals. I don’t think we would utilize Cases either.

Any advice is appreciated. I just want to set up Salesforce in the best way prior to importing leads/contacts."

Hello, I would love to know how you set up your salesforce org. I am setting up an org similar to yours where we sell to distributors and OEMs but market and our sales team work with public agencies, designers, and other companies who are therefore not necessarily considered one of our "accounts". With no current end user purchase aspect in place, we do not see the need for cases either and interested to know if you are utilizing that feature. Thank you.

#GSOfficeHours  Question regarding Collaborative Forecasting. We are moving from customizable to collaborative and want to know if there is a clean way to load in overrides via data loader. @Houri Ohanian

Hi! Question related to Households... We are a bit surprised that activities (phones, meetings, emails) don't roll up from business accounts to Households. In our country its quite common to be client both as a private person and through a private investment company. For these people we have a Household to aggregate all activity from sub-accounts.. This to have an abstraction layer where you can see everything that is going on in these relationships.

Are anyone else familiar with this behaviour? Do anyone know a work around?

How do you create a Drivers Licenses Field for a person account?

    @Alex Yarmesch

Here is a video that shows how to create a custom field in Lightning:

    and in Classic:

Just be sure you carefully evaluate the field type - for example, if you choose "number" as the field type, it will remove leading zeros. If there are any states than have DLN with leading zeros, that won't work. Also, if there are any states that have DLN with letters, you won't be able to use the "number" type. It may be more appropriate to use the "Text" field type in this situation. But ultimately, it depends on your needs.

Hello, I'll be joining the webinar today (23.08) at 17:00 CEST. My question will focus on exactly how to use the Mailchimp add-on (that is, send mail blasts etc) from within the Salesforce platform.

Thanks and best,

Stephen

If you are referring to "Mailchimp for Salesforce", it's flawed in a fairly basic way. There is no setting in the Mapping Setup to sync a Salesforce Contact's 'Company' the Mailchimp 'Company/Account' field. The only choice is 'none' or 'Account ID', which is an alphanumeric representation of the actual 'Company' field. So all your Contacts synced to Mailchimp will either have no entry synced or an unreadable mess of characters.

The worse part is when I asked their support about this, I was led in circles over 4 support tickets until finally they acknowledged the above shortcoming.

The flaw is that the integration fails to 'lookup' the Account NAME for a Contact to sync to Mailchimp.

Trying to delete a report but Salesforce is telling you it's currently being used by a dashboard?

Ans: Create a new Custom Report Type and select Report as the primary object, and Dashboard as the secondary object, and you should be able to get what you need

Thank you @Steve Molis for the tip!

I moved a change set of custom fields from Sandbox to Production. Once in Production I had to go reset field level security for every single field. It would have been almost as fast to just recreate them. Am I doing something wrong or is that really the way it works? If so are there any other gotchas I should be aware of when moving change sets from sandbox to production?

Thanks!
