Getting Started - What would you advise?
"I have a question regarding how best to use Professional version for our business model. Perhaps we over-purchased for our needs as the Group version may have been sufficient. We are a small company and have only 2 sales people who make visits to physicians’ offices, attend tradeshows, and handle inquiries from leads that come to us via calls or emails from web search and web advertising. The main issue is that we do not sell directly to the end user, per se. We expose people to our product and it’s unique benefits when used for babies’ medical nutrition needs (we manufacture organic baby formula). The end user (parents) are then purchasing the product through medical supply companies, pharmacies or through retail channels if not covered by insurance. Therefore, we do not have “closed deals” in the typical sense. We do have a few accounts who are Medical Suppliers and Distributors, though we do not offer take on new ones. My question then is how to best set up our work/sales flow and categorize new leads, especially when importing them. Should they just be contacts? Or should they be leads, even though they are basically pre-qualified once they contact us? The other question is how to use Opportunities, if at all, since we do not really “close” deals. I don’t think we would utilize Cases either.
Any advice is appreciated. I just want to set up Salesforce in the best way prior to importing leads/contacts."
Hello, I would love to know how you set up your salesforce org. I am setting up an org similar to yours where we sell to distributors and OEMs but market and our sales team work with public agencies, designers, and other companies who are therefore not necessarily considered one of our "accounts". With no current end user purchase aspect in place, we do not see the need for cases either and interested to know if you are utilizing that feature. Thank you.
