⚡⚡ Accelerate Value for your Business with Lightning ⚡⚡

Session with @Matthew Wallenstein covering the genesis of Lightning and how to define the value proposition for your business.

Lightning value proposition at a glance : Experience, Platform and Ecosystem

  • Experience : 700+ ways Lightning enhances productivity
  • Platform : No-Code builders for every part of your app - Free-up IT resources for the most critical projects
  • Ecosystem : Leverage the ecosystem with enhanced functionality from the AppExchange, plus developer and consulting partner expertise. Utilize the Lightning Design System to extend your app further.

Key CTAs :

  • Design your own Value Capability Map : Match Lightning capabilities to business metrics
  • Draw inspiration from the Forrester Lightning Total Economic Impact study to define opportunities to create value for your specific business.

Forrester Lightning Total Economic Impact

Study quantifying business impact of Lightning. Based on a ‘composite organisation’ drawn from 7 customers across several industries, with 500 - 47000 users each. Quantified benefits include +341% ROI, $2.6m Net Present Value and 14 month payback period.

Key drivers of value : user productivity, access to new capabilities and alignment to business transformation.

⚡⚡ Lightning Transition & Adoption ⚡⚡

Are you facing challenges with Lightning adoption? Here are a few tips for understanding and addressing user pain points from @Tom Gersic, Senior Director, Success Cloud and @Bennett Rothenberg, Director Success Cloud :

  • Get your end users to rank their top three challenges to Lightning adoption from high to low impact
  • Your users will either be your advocates or your opponents - 82% of projects fail due to employee resistance
  • A common pitfall is for Salesforce project leads to focus first on tangible adoption, rather than meaningful experiences
  • Three steps to meaningful experiences for your users : 1) Learn, 2) Make, 3) Test
  • The switch to Lightning is a good time to get rid of technical debt
  • Build interdependencies : instead of carrots and sticks, design processes so that usage is essential to one’s job

Remember : “The customer experience is the next competitive battleground“ - Jerry Gregoire, CIO, Dell.

Leading organizations shift from internal processes to the customer engagement journey.

Lightning transition approaches :

1) Unlock (Lift and Shift)

2) Evolve and Optimize

3) Reimagine and Retire

⚡⚡ Lightning Process Automation & Flow ⚡⚡

Are you facing a backlog of automation requests? Hear from @Jason Teller, Senior Director, Product Management as he covers some highlights of automating complex business processes with Lightning Flow. At a glance, Lightning Flow allows you to :

  • Design automation with point and click builders
  • Automate across connected systems (Events, open API, Apex...)
  • Embed visual workflow everywhere : guide your users through a series of screens to capture and update information
  • Get started quickly with Flow templates

Check out top automation enhancements in the Summer ’19 and Winter ’20 releases (24, 640+ points delivered in Winter alone!) and get a sneak preview of plans coming up in 2020 (Safe Harbor).

@Eric Mijonnet Hi Darren. This is one of the questions we raised at the Lightning Village day. We have a row summary report formula that we replicate and use across several dashboards. Please see details in the attached.

@Jason Teller Thanks for the great presentation last week!

I was discussing the use of Lightning Flow to create quasi batches to our admin team and they're really interested.

Are you able to share anything on this that I can pass on?

Thanks in advance

Hi Prutish - are you referring to the scheduled flow feature? There's a bit more detail around this in the release notes : https://releasenotes.docs.salesforce.com/en-us/winter20/release-notes/rn_forcecom_flow_fbuilder_start.htm

There's also a more in-depth demo of Flow in general (also covering some of the screen component enhancements) on the Release Readiness Live recordings (#5 in list, 20 minutes in) :

Let us know if you're looking for something else!

Thanks @Jessie Tung for the invite on Thursday. Really interesting to hear from the US-based folks in what's up and coming.

@Tom Gersic  @Michael Orr I was very impressed with seeing the Clapsable Lighting component toggle in once of the Lighting UI demos. Was wondering could you point me direction in how to implement this as this feature is really cool and something our SF users would love. Please let me know.

John :)
