Data Quality

Data is a four letter word but it doesn't have to be a dirty one! Let's share know-how about the efforts to overcome dirty data in your Salesforce org, e.g.: - best practices to make and keep your data clean - how to leverage Salesforce standard functionalities - 3rd party apps (e.g. for data profiling, data cleansing, deduplication) - processes to ensure data quality in daily business

I'm working on merging our Non Profit into NPSP.  One of the concerns our team brought up in a meeting was the issue of importing foreign characters.  Can they be cleanly imported with the rest of our data (We'll be importing more than 10,000 contacts and accounts when it's all over)? Do we have to "Transliterate" them so the names can be imported with English characters?  Do we have to separate out all of the non-English names and records and import them separately?

I've tried searching around a bit in the help files but I'm having trouble finding a clear answer.  Do you guys know?

Hi @Justin Culp , are you doing a lift and shift or looking to add value by adding some additional steps in the process? those steps being Data Quality, Migration Assurance approach when merging your data and ensuring a data quality integration occurs.

I ask as this will make a difference to my answer.

    Thank you

    Alasdair

I have a new client that is currently using Cloudingo to dedupe and bulk merge contacts from an external database (used by their website) before entering the data into Salesforce. As result, they have a couple thousands of Anonymous Household records, some are empty and some are linked to the correct (merged) Contact records. Because of the volume of contacts they merge weekly, using the Merge Household or Contact Merge features is not a feasibly option. I have a workaround to resolved the current issue.

This is the question that spurred my most recent post on using a Google Script to allow multi-select behavior in a Google Sheet.  With this innovation, end users can clean data in a spreadsheet environment (including MSPLs), rendering valid data in the appropriate format for upload.  I'd love to hear what you think!  https://thedataarealright.blog/2021/11/03/how-to-populate-multi-select-picklists-in-google-sheets-and-salesforce/
