Hi everyone,

I am running into a frustrating issue with the Lightning Email Builder (New Email Experience) in Account Engagement (Pardot) regarding a Custom Preference Center, and I would love to get your insights or alternative solutions.

The Problem: It seems the new Email Builder strictly forces merge tags to point either to Data Cloud or the default Pardot Preference Center. Whenever I try to insert my custom preference center link or modify the merge tag with the custom center token, the system throws an error and prevents me from saving the email.

The Proposed Workaround: I raised a ticket with Salesforce Support, and the technician suggested the following workaround:

My Concerns:

  1. Deliverability & Phishing Risks: I am deeply concerned that email clients might flag the email as phishing or spam due to the hidden HTML text/links. Has anyone used this workaround in production? Did it impact your deliverability?
  2. Data Cloud Alternative: I know I could potentially build the preference center within Data Cloud, but due to current bandwidth and timeline constraints, this would take way too much time right now.

Has anyone found a cleaner way to bypass this validator in the new builder without risking deliverability?     Any advice or best practices would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

Yes, Luke. What I had to do was add two subscription management buttons to the email. One is the global unsubscribe button, which is a little less prominent and intuitive visually, but it's still visible if you pay attention.

So, for both brands, I've configured the email templates with a footer that links to their respective brand-specific preference centers.

The global unsubscribe option, on the other hand, prevents contacts from receiving any further marketing communications from our entire Salesforce instance.

We are planning to do mass delete contact records in 'inactive' status in Salesforce.

We want also related pardot prospect to be deleted.

Do you know how we can achive that?

    Hi Dominika,

Deleting Leads or Contacts from Salesforce will put the synced Pardot Prospect Record into the Recycle bin. Hence you have nothing to do, just mass delete in Salesforce, Pardot will follow. Later on you may want to empty the Recycle Bin by permanently deleting the Prospect.

    Hope this helps ๐Ÿ˜Ž

How can I create a report with a prospect's first touch campaign?

The custom report type Campaigns with Influenced Opportunities (Customizable Campaign Influence) seems to be related to Opportunities

    Hi @Sheeba Baig,

You can achieve this by using B2B Marketing Analytics (B2BMA) inside the Analytics Studio

    tab:

    1. Multi-Touch Attribution Dashboard: Out of the box, B2BMA includes a Multi-Touch Attribution dashboard where you can apply filters to select the First-Touch Attribution Model alongside other dimensions.
    2. Advanced Customization (Advanced/Premium Editions): If you need custom fields or logic, open Data Manager in Analytics Studio. From there, you can modify Data Assets, Recipes, and Dataflows/Datasets to tailor the attribution metrics to your business needs.

For step-by-step guidance, check out the official Salesforce documentation on B2B Marketing Analytics Setup

    .

If this helps resolve your question, please mark it as helpful/upvoted!

    Cheers!

Hello experts,

We're starting to plan our move from Marketing Cloud Account Engagement to Marketing Cloud Next, and I would love to hear from teams who are a few steps ahead. :)

What's the recommended approach to migrate and what key considerations should we keep in mind around data, consent, automation, and running both platforms in parallel? Any lessons learned from teams who've been through it would be really helpful. Also any supported process documentations would be helpful as well.

Our current setup:

  • Account Engagement Enterprise Edition, Connector v2, a single production business unit, and a 2M+ prospect database.
  • Engagement Studio, scoring and grading automation rules and External Activities are core to how we operate today.
  • Data 360 and Agentforce are already enabled and configured, so we aren't starting from zero on the data foundation.
  • Connected Campaigns is only partially enabled.
  • Marketing Data Kits Still needs an upgrade

Thank you so much in advance! :)

    Lakshit,

What you read matches what I've found. To ensure deliverability you do not want the same domain authorized in 2 different systems with different DNS records.  So I'd plan on authenticating a second sending domain in Next. I am using a new subdomain.  The IP is a separate question from the domain. Next starts you on shared IPs and moves you to dedicated ones automatically as your volume grows, so I wouldn't count on your MCAE IP reputation coming with you either.

Before you commit to a plan, I'd get your AE and a Salesforce deliverability specialist to confirm in writing what's possible for your exact domain. Then run both side by side for a while. Keep MCAE sending the way it is, stand up Next on its own subdomain, start with your most engaged people, and ramp up slowly. Grab your current bounce and complaint numbers first so you have a baseline to compare against.

Regarding your mention of "partial connected campaigns" What do you mean by partial?  I believe only necessary if you want to retain the campaign history. If you some campaigns are old and do not matter, no need to make them connected now.

    I would

    1. List the unconnected campaigns and sort them: keep, merge, or ignore (old tests, duplicates).
    2. Connect the keepers. A few can be done by hand; many can be matched in bulk
    3. Check campaign record types, since campaigns with a record type that isnโ€™t set to sync wonโ€™t come across.
    4. Then decide on โ€œUse Salesforce to manage all campaigns,โ€ which makes Pardot campaigns read-only. The prerequisites page doesnโ€™t list this setting as required for Next, so Iโ€™d treat it as recommended, not mandatory.

I'm working through Next alongside Account Engagement right now, so I'm happy to compare notes if that would help.

I've noticed I'm dealing with a fair amount of bot clicks on emails, where I can see one prospect has clicked virtually every single link in an email on multiple days. Anecdotally they mostly seem to be from China, or education/university email addresses (the latter I am guessing is coming from university spam protection tools).

I was reading about visitor filters here:

https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=000383306&type=1

That page says it was published in Sep 2025, however I can see that all our visitor filters say Last Updated 1 April 2019, which I believe is when the organisation got Pardot.

[PD-SYS] Visitor Filters - are these up to date?

Does that mean these filters have not been touched since then, and are they still relevant? I would imagine a lot could change in 7 years...

    @Charlotte Fabb

Those [PD-SYS] Proofpoint filters are system-managed by Salesforce, so the 1 April 2019 date is simply when they were provisioned to your account when you got Pardot โ€” a static date is normal for system filters and doesn't mean they've gone stale or that you need to maintain them. The key point though: visitor filters only suppress website Visitor activity (page views recorded by your tracking code), not email link clicks โ€” so they were never going to stop the bot clicks you're seeing against prospects. Those clicks come from email security gateways (Proofpoint URL Defense, Mimecast, Microsoft Safe Links) and university spam-protection tools that pre-scan every link before delivery; it's an industry-wide email issue that no visitor filter removes. Practical way to handle it: don't treat a single email click as a qualifying, scoring, or sales-alert trigger on its own โ€” scanner clicks have tells (they fire within seconds of the send and usually hit every link in the email), so lean on those signals and require corroborating engagement (a form submission, or repeat visits across separate sessions) before you act on a click. If you use clicks in Engagement Studio or automation/completion actions, add a short time delay or a 'clicked 2+ distinct links' style guard so scanner traffic doesn't push prospects down the funnel. if this helps, please mark it as the Best Answer so it helps the next person โ€” thanks ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi Salesforce Community,

I have a question regarding Marketing Cloud Account Engagement (Pardot) and the new email tracking regulations introduced by France (CNIL) and Italy (Garante).

As per the new guidance, individual email open and click tracking requires explicit user consent, even for B2B marketing emails. This means organizations may need to stop tracking recipients who have not provided separate consent for email engagement tracking.

My questions are:

  1. Is there any native feature or setting in Marketing Cloud Account Engagement (Pardot) that allows us to disable email open and click tracking only for specific recipients or countries (such as France and Italy)?
  2. Is it possible to control email tracking based on a Prospect field, Dynamic List, or country, rather than disabling tracking for the entire Business Unit?
  3. Has Salesforce published any official guidance or best practices for complying with these new CNIL and Garante requirements?
  4. If there is no native functionality today, what implementation approach are other customers using to remain compliant while continuing to use Pardot?

Any guidance, documentation, or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.    Thanks,  Akshaj

Hi! I am on the same boat. I don't think is possible at the moment in MCAE to remove the tracking based on consent. Seems is an "all or no one" approach at the moment. That is at least what I understand from here  Tracking Pixels in Marketing Email Communications | Salesforce Help

Can someone confirm or deny? It can't be that salesforce module is not technicaly capable to follow current regulations... This was known already from April.

    Some help community?

    Thank you

Hi everyone! We currently have a "Lead Submission Form" used by our customer service reps (CSRs). When they receive inbound calls, the CSRs fill out the Lead Submission Form and choose a sales rep (custom field). I have completion items that assign the user based on what is chosen in the sales rep custom field. I also notify the sales rep chosen. I'm currently at my limit of completion items, but I have one more sales rep to add. Am I missing a better way to do this? I have tried to go the engagement studio route, but it's required to add a recipient list, and I'm not sure what to put there... Any suggestions are welcome! Thank you!!

An external action might suit you best here.

Pass into the External Action the CRM ID (implies you've synced this Prospect to Salesforce) and the field that stores the desired sales rep.  The Autolaunched Flow that powers your External Action can then make the assignment with no issue.  For the form, you could have a completion action of assigning to a temporary queue until the Flow runs (typically 45s later)

    Hi Sumit,

Build it as a custom LWC + Apex component, backed by the Engagement History related objects.

Hi everyone,

We're currently working on a CNIL-related requirement in France and I'd love to hear how other Account Engagement customers are handling this scenario.

We have implemented a custom consent field to identify prospects who:

-Consent to receive marketing communications.

-Do not consent to email tracking (opens and click tracking).

Identifying these prospects is not the challenge. We can easily segment them using the custom field.

The challenge is understanding what can actually be sent to them through Account Engagement while respecting their tracking preference.

From what I've seen, Account Engagement does not appear to offer a way to disable open and click tracking

at the individual prospect level

while still sending the same HTML email as the rest of the audience. The options seem to be limited to:

Sending a separate email with tracking disabled (Sending plain text emails).

Disabling tracking more broadly (Account level).

Using another platform for these recipients (Too risky).

I've also noticed that some other marketing platforms seem to allow individual recipients to be excluded from tracking statistics while continuing to receive the same email content (ActiveTrail).

So my questions are:

How are you managing prospects who opt out of open/click tracking but still want to receive marketing emails?

Is there any native Account Engagement capability that we're missing?

Are you sending a different type of email to these prospects?

Have you implemented a workaround that satisfies CNIL or similar privacy requirements?

I'd be very interested in hearing about real-world implementations and lessons learned.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

we have been using the current email experience editor in Email Content now for about 2 years. Knowing that this editor is not being supported any more, we sometimes face now problems while trying to edit a two-column row layout, which is already previously added to the email. When this email is going to be edited newly, the different elements, whether it is rich text or image component, they are not editable. Most of the time it happens by the same user who previously has created that layout before. At the same time, when another user tries to do the same, it is possible. And eventhough the affected user logs himself out and deletes the cache, that does not help.

Do anyone have same issues- or even better, what helps?

    Hi Mia,

We have seen similar behaviour. Here are the most effective fixes and workarounds for this behaviour:

    Clear Session Locks:

Have the user open another email record, enter the builder, click Save & Exit, then return. Lingering session tokens often cause user-specific locks.

    Disable Browser Extensions:

Open the editor in an Incognito / Private window with extensions (especially ad blockers or Salesforce extensions) disabled, as they often block click events on nested layouts.

    Reset Browser Zoom:

Set zoom strictly to 100% (Ctrl + 0 / Cmd + 0); display scaling frequently breaks click targets in multi-column rows.

    Clone the Email:

Clone the affected Email Content recordโ€”this immediately clears corrupted layout DOM metadata and usually restores editability.

    Verify CMS/File Access:

Ensure the user has contributor permissions to any Salesforce CMS workspace or Asset Library folder used by the images inside that row.

    Thanks

    Siva
