Hi,
I am new to Tableau public. Wondering if it is possible to download workbooks from Tableau public?
Thank you!
Hi Laura,
Echoing Jim and Ciara, you can download workbooks (vizzes) from Tableau Public. Olga Tsubiks wrote a good blog post summarizing how to download workbooks, and how to manage your settings for download. In addition to that blog post, here are a few related tips:
How to download a workbook
Click on the download icon in the toolbar at the bottom of a viz. You can download any viz as an image, PDF, or Powerpoint. If the author has made the workbook and data available for download, you can also download the data, a crosstab, or twbx file.
How to manage your default download settings
You can change the default settings for workbooks you publish in the future. This will not apply to workbooks you have already published.
1. Sign in to your Tableau Public profile
2. In the top-right, hover over your profile image and click 'Settings'
3. In the Settings modal, turn on/off download and visibility preferences, click 'Save Changes'
How to change download settings for individual workbooks
Once you have published a workbook to your profile, you can modify the download settings for individual workbooks.
1. Click on the workbook from your profile you want to modify.
2. Below the viz (next to the title) click 'Edit Details'.
3. Turn on/off 'Allow workbook and its data to be downloaded by others'.
4. Click 'Save'
Credit the original author
If you happen to download another author's workbook for learning and publish to your own profile, give credit to the original author by adding a link to the original in the inspiration field (more info here).
