Parameter Action works on sheet but not on dashboard — Tableau 2026.1
I have a sheet with 7 KPI rows built using Measure Names/Values (Measure Names on Rows, Measure Values on Text and Color). When I click a row ON THE SHEET, selection works fine.
I've created a Parameter Action at the dashboard level (Dashboard → Actions → Change Parameter):
- Source: my KPI sheet
- Run on: Select
- Target Parameter: Selected SLA (string parameter with 7 values)
- Source Field: Measure Names
- Aggregation: None
What happens: When I click a KPI row on the dashboard, nothing happens — the parameter doesn't update and no navigation occurs.
What I've checked:
- Nothing floating on top of the sheet
- Action is created at dashboard level (Dashboard → Actions), not sheet level
- Tableau version 2026.1.0
- Sheet is connected to SharePoint data source
- Mark type is Text (or tried Square — same result)
- Tried putting a Metric Name calculated field on Rows (hidden header) instead of relying on Measure Names — same issue
- No other actions conflicting on the same source sheet
What I want: Click a KPI row → set parameter → navigate to a detail page showing delayed orders for that metric.
What works:
Parameter Action fires correctly when testing within the sheet itself (not on dashboard).

Could you set up at least two KPI conditions in the workbook you shared?
I’d like to review and consider them based on your settings, since anything I create on my own might differ from what you actually want.
