TABLEAU COMMUNITY ETIQUETTE GUIDE

Our Guiding Principles

The Tableau Community consists of people from different countries, cultures, and beliefs, as well as varying levels of experience with using Tableau. Because of this, our community is a vibrant and amazing place where we all come together because we have chosen to use Tableau. We must be mindful to ensure all of our interactions are centered around supporting one another and acquiring news skills and insights by sharing knowledge about the Tableau products.

➡️ Respect

  • Help us show respect for all. Most answers are provided by other Communities users just like you. Please provide a respectful answer as you yourself would like to get in return.
  • Despite differences in opinions, keep in mind that each perspective still deserves the same level of courtesy and even well-meaning people can and do make mistakes. Always assume good faith.
  • Please refrain from making negative comments, not to mention name calling, insults or profanity. Avoid using all capital letters, bold fonts, or emphasized words, which may convey an angry negative tone.

➡️ Collaboration

  • The Tableau Community exists to let users reach out to other users for advice on resolving issues or getting ideas and inspiration for trying new projects. Keep the conversation topic-centered. This is not a community for general chatting. However, recognition of good work, encouragement and friendly comments are always welcome.

➡️ Being Helpful

  • Be descriptive and concise when you post questions and choose a title that contains key-words such as “geo-mapping” or “dual-axis display” as this makes it easier to find topics of interest.
  • Bring forward new, helpful information when you reply and reply with useful and positive comments. Don’t forget to thank a fellow community member who pointed you in the right direction and mark the answer “Helpful”.
