Thank you for those who joined our AMER Ask Me Anything (AMA) Session today on Weds, June 18th, 2025. Thank you so much to our fantastic hosts @Bill Florio, @Danny Rodriguez and our lead @Rob OBrien

We had a delightful conversation and as promised here are some of the resources shared as part of the live AMER Ask Me Anything Session.

Reminder: These live AMAs are not recorded to allow for open, honest conversations

Q: About Global Picklists Lists- We have 2 global picklists that were made in 2022 and nothing has been changed since but now there was need to add some new values. I found a idea exchange while searching that we can't change the valuesets. I can explain more.

A: This limitation has been discussed for years — see the IdeaExchange post here: Change Picklists Assigned Global Value Set

In the meantime, try performing a hard refresh or switching between

Comfy and Compact display density to force a page reload:

  1. Click your profile icon in the top-right corner.
  2. Under Display Density, choose the other option (Comfy or Compact).
  3. Confirm the prompt to refresh.
  4. This often helps see recent changes without clearing your browser cache.

While changing the display density between "Comfy" and "Compact" is not a true hard refresh in the sense of completely clearing your browser's cache, it's a widely used trick to force Salesforce Lightning to reload the current page and display any recent changes to its layout or components. This is especially useful for quickly seeing configuration updates or layout modifications without needing to clear your browser cache or open a private browsing window.

Also check Debug Logs to identify if anything else is blocking the update.

Q: I’ll ask a silly question. How do I uninstall a managed package that doesn’t have an “uninstall” option? I’ve not run into this before.

A: First, check if the package came from the AppExchange and has an active subscription — you may need to cancel that first via Account Settings

If uninstall still isn’t possible:

  • Contact Salesforce Support for help identifying dependencies or to manually remove the package.
  • For second-generation managed packages, use the Salesforce CLI commands:

sf package version delete

sf package delete

Always:

  • Test in a sandbox first.
  • Backup related data before removal.
  • If needed, use a deployment tool to deprecate related components.

Q: A nonprofit I'm working with that does outbound grantmaking has been using NPSP with the Outbound Funds Module and FormAssembly, but is quickly scaling up their volume and considering transitioning to a full-fledged grant portal platform. Does anyone have a third-party grants management platform that integrates well with Salesforce that they love? Or pros/cons or tips on setting up an Experience Cloud grants portal?

A: Many nonprofits start with Outbound Funds and customize it further — this can remain viable for moderate scale.

If volume and complexity are growing, a dedicated third-party grants management tool may be more efficient.

SurveyMonkey Apply is one affordable option with decent integration potential.

For Experience Cloud portals:

  • Identify the mission-critical workflows first, and build iteratively.
  • Watch licensing costs — each external user needs a license.
  • Keep security top of mind — Experience Cloud is robust but configuration needs care.

Consider talking to similar orgs or a trusted implementation partner for advice before investing in a new platform.

Q: Hello! My question is regarding campaign performance reporting, particularly for multi-channel campaigns. We are on NPSP and using Classy for online donations. We use source codes to track channel, audience, messaging, A/B testing etc, but these different source codes might all be associated with the same Classy Campaign which is the Primary Campaign Source via Classy. The source code detail is on the Opp. We need to answer questions like "which channel performed best for this campaign, or during this season?" preferably without searching individual source code IDs (a series of letters and numbers).

A: This is a common challenge: multiple source codes feed into one Classy campaign, and the details live on the Opportunity.

Q: I’d love to have a conversation about tracking in-kind gifts on Gift Commitment vs. Gift Transactions - it’s not money received per se, but there is value that should be rolled up to the donor.

A: There’s no single standard; organizations handle it differently.

One common practice:

  • Enter the gift as a Gift Transaction with an amount of $0.01 (since $0 isn’t allowed).
  • Use a custom field to record the donor-provided value.

Q: Hi! We are using NPC. In appears in that there can only be one relationship record between business account/contact. We need to be able to track a Person Account/Contact's history with a business account, like if the person was a member at large of a board in 2022 and then became board chair for 2023 - we want to track that history. You can only update the record, not add a new one and there is no history table for the relationship object. Anyone have a work around for this? Thanks!

A: This is a known limitation.

Q: Can someone show me how to organize Files into folders?

A: Salesforce’s native Files isn’t a full file manager or CMS.

Many connect Salesforce to SharePoint, Google Drive, or a tool like

Appiphony for clearer folder structures.
