We've been close to pulling the trigger on Conga for a long while - its reputation is stellar in this and the broader SF community; however, the 5 min. seats was a roadblock for our simple needs (1 person mail merging a few letters annually).
We've been exporting reports and using MS Office mail merging from those, but with a new staffer, an impending move to O365 with some budget and a desire to make this as efficient as possible, we just went to get a Conga quote and found that they now require 11 min. seats. Their 1-10 "starter pack" effectively triples the annual NPO cost (from ~$500 to ~$1400, which is even tougher to justify for one effective user). Out of curiosity - anyone get a surprise in their Conga annual renewal or are they grandfathering existing users (my apprehension about cloud/subscription pricing is starting to be realized, perhaps)?
Anyway, is there any other app that might do simple mail merging as I described or is export to MS Office mail merging just as well?
Validity just partially walked back the DemandTools change a few days ago. If a nonprofit has less than $250K in assets they can qualify for a grant. So far, none of my clients qualify.
Apsona is a good alternative for some of the function but DT deduplication is really quite powerful, amazingly so.
One of Validity's emails seems to say that nonprofits are costing them $5M per year in lost revenue but that's only true if the nonprofits actually pony up the money. I'm hard pressed to see that happening.
