I am getting the response,
"Step not yet complete in My Trailhead Playground 3
Make sure you add the 'helloWorld' Lightning web component to the default Home page. My Trailhead Playground 3"
I have deleted the extra Home Page created for another module, so there is only the one, set to org default. This is the Sales app Home as default. When I launch SF (My Trailhead Playground 3), I get the "Welcome to your Trailhead Playground", then click home, and there is my LWC helloWorld component in the upper-right. It responds properly to the text change event:
I've verified the name (I think), in the helloWorld.js-meta.xml I have
<LightningComponentBundle xmlns="http://soap.sforce.com/2006/04/metadata" fqn="helloWorld">
I'm not sure what else to try. I've closed everything and re-verified, event restarted my system. Without better feedback on failure, I'm stuck and looking for a toe-hold. No issues with deployment or the code, which appear to be working. It's just not passing the test(s).
Questions
:
- Is the fact that when I launch I get the welcome page instead of Home page a clue?
- What other steps can I take to verify or fix?

I don't think any thing wrong in Component.
Suppose if XML is not proper (Say target missing ) then we will not get option to drag the component on Home page.
Unfortunitly, In this case I would also suggest please go with new Org now.
No worries it will a revison of those deployment commands :) (I usually did multiple times).
Simply Authorise again with SFDX:Authorise an org and login with new playground org.
