hi Everyone

Is there anyone using Salesforce to manage your org's internal IT inventory? (eg: laptop, mobiles assigned to staff..etc)

I am currently managing IT laptops, mobiles in Excel spreadsheets and i am thinking of importing them into Salesforce. Here is what i am planning to do:

- All our staff are contacts in Salesforce ( This is already done by HR)

- Create a custom object named IT asset ( laptop record type, mobile phone record type)

- Create staff contact relationship with IT asset objects as look up relationship.

- Import IT inventory data from excel to Salesforce.

I would be really appreciated if you can share thought on this with me so i can put in my action plan before implement this.

Thanks

Thomas

Adding a late answer for anyone who finds this thread later. The junction object approach above is the right DIY pattern: Asset, Contact, and an Assignment record with assigned and returned dates gives you full history without relying on field history retention.

If you'd rather not build and maintain it, ITAM App is a managed package that does this out of the box: hardware and licences, assignment history, warranty and renewal alerts, standard reports. Staff who hold equipment are records, not users, so they don't need Salesforce licences. The free plan covers 20 owners and 100 assets with no time limit. Disclosure: I'm one of the makers.

Hi colleagues,   I am building a Mail Merge solution that creates a "Donor Profile" one page PDF.  So far, I'm pulling in data from recent opportunities, open opportunities, tasks/activities, contacts/affiliations, and fields from the Account (org/household).  I'm wondering, what's most important to you and your teammates to surface in a document like this? LMK!

Hi. Currently, our accounting team manually enters each donation into QuickBooks. We're not looking for a tool to automatically sync from Salesforce to QuickBooks. Instead, we would want to find something to import a spreadsheet into QuickBooks. Do you know of anything that can accomplish this?

Thank you for help!

Not sure if you already solved this back in 2018, but for anyone landing here later - QuickBooks’ built-in CSV/Excel import is still usually enough if the goal is just bulk-loading donations instead of doing a full Salesforce sync. We used that approach for a while and it worked fine once the spreadsheet columns were standardized.

Where things got painful was recurring imports every week/month. That’s when we eventually moved to something like Skyvia to automate the mapping/import process, but for one-off or occasional uploads, native import is probably the simplest route.

I'm bringing more board games to the hotel lobby for Wednesday or Thursday night. Will have to think about which ones are best since we grew to a table of 10-12 people last year.

    Hey Melinda,

We’ve been integrating CloudTalk (www.cloudtalk.io) with Salesforce, and the experience has been great so far.

The integration was super easy to set up—no crazy configs needed. It automatically logs everything (calls, notes, tags, recordings) to the right contact or deal. You can even make calls straight from Salesforce with click-to-call, which saves a ton of time.

We're currently triggering some automated emails to our donors through Salesforce using Lightning Email Templates but these aren't the nicest looking emails in the world.

Is it possible to use Canva or a similar graphic design app to create "pretty" emails and then pop this into a Salesforce email template? I just tried with code from Canva embed but got a bunch of errors with the code in the Salesforce email template.

Thanks in advance!

Hello, we are in the process of moving from Team Approach to NPSP and are considering options for doing direct mail segmentation.  Does anyone have a tool they really like?  Is anyone outsourcing and if so I'd love to talk to you more about details.

Thanks!

Kristin

PS.  We've already ruled out using native SF tools.

    Hi @Simon Anlezark

    ,

How has your experience been with Dataro? My Fundraising team wants to implement it but I am not getting much information from them. Would love to hear how your implementation went?

    Thanks!

Hi folks.

My client uses engagement plans that often create 30+ tasks. However, when an engagement plan gets deleted from an opportunity, it'd be nice if all it's related tasks also got deleted. Is there a way to automate this? It's very tedious for my client to manually delete these tasks.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

We faced the same issue, so I added a query in the Data Loader to filter tasks with the condition WHERE Status != 'Completed' AND (Subject = ' ' OR Subject = ' '). The task names were pulled from the Engagement Plan Tasks, which helped me narrow down the specific tasks to delete.

We are on our way to change how we handle donors that are interested in leaving their legacy to our organisation. Previously the process was kept outside Salesforce until the legacy gift was on its way (then it was registered in the system).

We would really like some tips, advice and learn how other organisations are handling the legacy donor pipeline? Which categories for follow up do you have and how is the process in the system? How do you handle the ones that have shown an interest in being a legacy donor vs those who are on their way to pledge a legacy gift and those that have written a will with a legacy gift.

Thanks for any input and ideas on this :-)

We did create a custom object, not for the planned gift per se, but for the gift vehicles - which could be an asset or set of assets (like a stock portfolio, an IRA account, or a DAF), a deferred gift, or a split-interest gift. We created a button on the custom object to generate Opportunity records relating to the "legacy" record.
