Yes. The component itself allows you to open the task as a pop-up where you can create a subtask.

We were looking to improve the handling of Tasks and remind of Events within our company, and stumbled upon a free component by Webider. Hello,
If you are looking for a Query to achieve this you'll need something like this
select ID from Task where IsClosed = False and ActivityDate > TODAY()
Is it possible to customize the task view in lightning? Both the task itself and the related list view?

Hi Sarah,
Yes - and no.
Tasks can be given new fields under the Activity object in the object manager. However, you cannot create a lookup field that points to a task or activity, and therefore cannot have a new related list under tasks.
