Maintenance Plan Work Order Generation Interfering with Flow

In case anyone is having this issue I thought I would share. We are transitioning over to Maintenance Work Rules from Frequency Fields and have been struggling to make sure the generated work orders are customized to our needs and reliably generating. We created a custom flow to update the records and create WOLI's however when it was activated the maintenance plans then stopped generating work orders. I submitted a Salesforce Support Case but they were unable to resolve the issue. As of today I did find a work around, if you run the flow on a scheduled path delayed by as little as 2 minutes the two automations can run without conflict and function properly.

Hope this helps anyone else experiencing this issue. #Maintenance Work Rules #Preventive Maintenance

Do you want to use AI to improve your reactive maintenance?

We are accepting nominations for a proof of concept program (POC) for proactive maintenance to take place from 6/1/2021 to 8/6/2021.

This POC is to validate using AI for proactive maintenance, which identifies the causes of asset breakdowns and corrects them before problems occur with maintenance activities.

The POC will research ways to identify asset maintenance patterns and analyze their root causes using statistical analysis and AI. For example, identifying that there is an unusually high number of work order requests for a particular product and work type, such as cleaning for solar panels; and finding the contributing factors such as the work is done for a specific account, or at a specific location, or by a certain provider; or the panels are provided by the same supplier or belong to a particular batch, etc. Quality managers can use such analysis to understand the root causes and take corrective actions such as changing the service provider, adjusting maintenance schedules, or recalling a defective product.

POC customers will learn an approach for proactive maintenance. This work can also potentially lead to a predictive maintenance project in the future.

When: The POC runs from 6/1 to 8/6.

Who:

  • POC candidates must be Salesforce Field Service customers who have a rich set of quality and clean data around work orders and work types
  • POC candidates can move fast in getting data and participate in a focused manner in June and July
  • Preferably the POC candidates have already participated in prior SFS Einstein pilot

How: Message me on the trailblazer community OR email me at amanes@salesforce.com

Join an exclusive pilot program for SFS Criteria-based Preventive Maintenance

We are accepting nominations for the program in Summer ’21 release.

Criteria-based maintenance, and later meter-based maintenance, allow customers to effectively manage preventive maintenance by generating work orders based on the value of asset parameters. This approach

  1. Increases uptime and Mean Time To Failure of equipment. Time-based equipment maintenance could lead to maintenance done too late impacting the equipment’s uptime or longevity.
  2. Optimizes technician productivity by sending a technician at the most appropriate time. Time-based maintenance may be too often for a healthy asset, wasting technician visits, parts, etc.
  3. Helps our customer begin the journey towards predictive maintenance, also leveraging asset technical attributes, as they begin to collect asset data and use it to make maintenance decision

An example of criteria-based maintenance is to create a WO if the temperature of a refrigerator is not within the range of 32 F and 40 F. An example of meter-based (or usage-based) maintenance is to maintain a vehicle every 5K mile, or every 6 months.

Who: Customers who are already using the Maintenance Plan, and preferably the Maintenance Work Rule and eager to have input on the direction of criteria-based, meter/usage-based maintenance.

When: The pilot runs from 6/1 to 9/10.

How: Ask your AE to create an R&D Program Participant record in the SFS - Summer 21 - Criteria-based Preventive Maintenance Pilot R&D Program (https://org62.lightning.force.com/lightning/r/R_D_Program__c/a0p3y00000Eg5dxAAB/view)
