Integrate SharePoint & Salesforce for External File Storage & Collaboration

Images...Attachments...PDFs...Videos... with so many docs available, we can sometimes lose sight of a structured way to store & manage files in Salesforce. So how can we integrate external storage systems such as SharePoint to better manage Salesforce files along with complete control over the storage usage & costs?

Join us on 4th March, 11:00 AM EST to see how SharePoint could be a primary Salesforce file storage & how to integrate both using XfilesPro to transform file storage needs.

What's in it?

  • Advantages of using external storage as the primary Salesforce files storage
  • Different available storage options
  • Why XfilesPro
  • SharePoint as an external storage
  • How easy it is to set it up
  • Customer use case

Hi, Group!  I need to build a solution for the following use case, and I'm not sure of the best way to go.  I'd appreciate any advice and suggestions you might have:

  • My client wants to enable secure file exchange, navigation, management and approval for each of their customers via a Community;
  • They want each of their customers to be able to upload individual files or "bundles" of files and place them within a familiar folder-like structure.  When new files are uploaded, the appropriate employee(s) of my client should be notified.
  • They want employees to be able to upload files for customers to approve and download.  When an employee posts a new file or a group of files, the customer should be notified.
  • Customers should be able to approve and reject files either individually or as a group/folder, with comments. Appropriate employees should be notified on approval/rejection.
  • Naturally, each customer should only be able to see their own files.

Ideally, I'd like to be able to do all this with Salesforce, but I'm open to integrating Box or another partner document management platform.  I've never created anything like this before, and currently I'm stuck.  Again, I'd greatly appreciate any suggestions you may have.  Thanks!

Our organization sells large equipment that goes from a half million to 1.5 Million and up; the sales cycles over a year long.   There is a plethora of documents/pictures/PDF's etc. that go with the job from start to finish.  Currently we have a very dysfunctional way to find all of that information if you are a sales rep in order to present a pitch to a similar project.  We are considering creating accounts with a type "Project Equipment" and calling them "BCT (Our company Acronym) - xxx (equipment name)" and storing all the pertinent information in the Notes and attachments for the "company"...this way the sales rep would have an easy way to find the equipment and see all the information that would help him sell the next project that is similar.

Does anyone have any Pro's/Con's...other ideas?  I looked at other apps; but all more $$ and way more than we need.
