Tableau for Teaching User Group

The purpose of this group is to invite peer-to-peer connection and collaboration for instructors teaching data skills and Tableau.

Hi, I just taught a workshop where over half of the 20 students reported very regular and frequent crashes of a version of Tableau Public Desktop they downloaded around 9/14/25. One student was able crash his version on demand just by clicking on the View Data canvas icon. All seem to Apple Silicon Mac versions. Anyone else seeing this out in the wild?

Has anyone found a fix for this issue? I'm teaching a summer course and I have two students on Macs who are having similar issues.

This is my sixth year teaching and I've never had a student report problems like this.

    Thank you!

Hi @Douglas Joubert - I just issued a Tableau Cloud site invitation. Look out for an email "from" Tableau Cloud <reghelp@onlinemail.tableau.com> wit the subject: Get started - Activate your Tableau Cloud site. You will have 48 hours to activate your site, let me know if 48 hours have passed and I can re-trigger the invite. Yes! Our curriculum can be requested by by completing this form. You will need your site URL to enter on the form (so make the request after you activate). The curriculum is always being refreshed, and we have added a few new courses last year. You can likely check the 'last modified' date on the files once you have access to the drive. Hope this helps!

Hi all,

I think my Cloud license will expire soon. I know there is a way to find the expiration date, but I can't seem to remember where exactly that is. Any help will be appreciated.

Hello! Tableau Academic Programs offers a 20% discount for the Tableau Desktop Specialist exam only (not the Data Analyst certification exam). To qualify for the 20% discount on the Specialist exam (retails for $100 USD), send an email to tft@tableau.com with the email address used to request your instructor license, and once the team verifies your status as an active instructor you will receive a form link with the discount code and instructions for how to redeem and schedule your exam with our Certification vendor, Pearson VUE. Hope this helps!

Hello, thank you for adding me to the Group. I am thrilled to be here. I would like to ask a question regarding the Data Literacy Canvas Course. According to the Tableau Website, I had to get access to this course so I could see the Canvas files for the Data Literacy course. Can someone please let me know how to access them? I would like to review them and see what integrations I can make for my classes.

    Hi Anya,

I just did this a week ago, so fresh in my mind!

    Go to this page: https://www.tableau.com/academic/tableau-teaching-curriculum

On that page, under the heading "How to access the curriculum", click on the link in Step 2 and it will take you to a Google Form to fill out to request access.

A couple days later you'll get an email with links to the pages for all of the materials and the password.

    Best.

Hi,

I understand we can have free Tableau Desktop, Prep, and Cloud licenses for teaching. Are there any education licenses with AI capabilities, such as Agent, Pulse, and Tabelau+? By the way, what are the differences between Agent, Pulse, and Tableau +?

Thanks,

Xuebin

Hi @Xuebin Wei - At present, we do offer basic Pulse functionality within the Tableau Cloud product. You must have an active instructor Tableau Cloud site to utilize Pulse features. We currently do not offer AI products or features at no cost through our program, we are thinking of ways to introduce AI in the classroom and will notify our instructor userbase of any new developments.

Hello,

I've just received an e-mail from visualanalysis@data.tableau.com, advertising for "new French and German language curriculum for instructors", yet I could not find them. Can someone please share a link?
