Address as a Custom Field Trailblazers

Address as a Custom Field is slated to go GA in v1.0 in Winter '23. This Trailblazer group is to provide ONE forum for early adopters to get roadmap updates, ask questions, and help you work with your AEs/CSGs for pilot/beta application and enrollment. This is also the group where if you're interested to participate as an early adopter in our current developer preview pilot or beta prior to GA, *you must work with your AE or CSG (not the PM) to get legally approved first. Here is where I'm posting all of the info for the AEs and CSGs to get the information they need go help get customers and partners through the pilot/beta approval process.

Critical to have addresses in custom objects

We're not using Salesforce yet. I'm using Trailhead to investigate Salesforce functionality and customization. I can tell you now: it's a critical requirement for us to have addresses in custom objects. We would also use State/Province picklists on their own, either related to an address or as a standalone value. Looking forward to seeing this implemented. Thanks! #Trailhead Challenges

Is there documentation available for this feature yet?

As a Custom Data type, can I assume that I can use the field multiple times in an object, such as Physical Address, Mailing Address, Billing Address, etc? Thank you, Cyndy

The purpose of this group is to provide general updates and answer questions about the current multi-release product launch of Address as a Custom Field on the road to GA. You can also ask questions about the pilot nomination and application process as well. Please read carefully below:

Winter ’22 Release Closed Pilot Update: Application Process Now Open
This is a Developer Preview-focused Pilot, with testing in sandbox environments and Developer Edition orgs only. *These features aren’t ready to be used in production in Winter ’22.* Due to the developer-focused nature and platform-level of this feature, it is a requirement to work with your AE (not the PM of this program) to secure legal approval *before* being considered for this pilot. When contacting your AE, include this link to the pilot program record as the starting place for them to "nominate you" for the pilot-- Address as a Custom Field Pilot program. Then, continue to work with them to fulfill the legal approval process for the pilot which is required prior to being considered for this pilot and future beta participation (Duration of this process could take 2-4 weeks), Thank you!

> What’s available: Admins and developers can leverage these capabilities:

For Admins: Create custom fields using a new Address field type on any standard object or any custom object. Create records with the custom address fields and retrieve data from the new address fields. Once you create a custom address field, your Salesforce end users can leverage some of the same capabilities they expect with their standard address workflows, including:
* Add a custom address field to Page Layout and List Views
* Use record detail and record edit pages
* Use Google Address Lookup to populate a custom address field
* Leverage list views and related lists
* View custom address field data in reports
As part of using Address as a Custom Field, admins also configure State and Country picklists for use with custom address fields. (FYI: This change doesn’t require enabling the picklists for standard address fields. Standard address fields continue to work as-is in parallel with custom address fields, which use the picklists.)

* For Developers: With Winter ’22, this pilot includes Enterprise API support for these highly requested capabilities: Describe SObject; Describe Page Layout; Create, Read, Update, and Delete records with address data; Metadata API: validation rules; reports; packaging; and Apex triggers and classes.

> Timeline & Qualification: The pilot program runs through the end of January 2022. We’re accepting 20 additional customers to this pilot in Winter ’22: 10 to be onboarded Oct. 28, and another 10 to be onboarded Nov. 18. To be considered, you must work with your Account Executive to get nominated and legally approved.

Salesforce will accept qualifying participants on a first-come-first-served basis. If you are selected for the pilot, Salesforce will contact you with next steps.

If all available pilot seats are filled before the November 18, we’ll post an announcement in this Idea and update the pilot record internally..
