Hi @syed hasan it is recommended to hunt on linkedin and join community sessions scheduled in your area. Meet with community leaders and request to refer or recommend you s volunteer. It might help. Thanks

Hi Everyone,

I’d like to introduce myself to the group. I'm in the middle of a career shift and have been studying Salesforce on Trailhead since May, while also applying for jobs after my last organization closed.

Most of my background is in nonprofit and association communications, with a focus on email marketing and member engagement. I’m building up my Salesforce skills step by step, and I’m looking for ways to bridge that experience into database, marketing operations, or Salesforce-adjacent roles.

I’m based in DC. I’d love to connect with others who have made a similar shift or are shifting and hear how you navigated the process.

Hello everyone! I am new to the group. I come from an 18 year background in Veterinary Medicine. While I have no real IT background,  I have had my hands on many different software and cloud platforms and had to trouble shoot many problems, even though not salesforce related. I am hoping to gain insights and guidance towards the best way to get hands on experience while I am on my learning journey to pass my administrator exam.

I see a lot of posts that it is hard to get a job after passing the exam, but I believe with enough networking and determination it is possible.

After a career in hybrid HR/operations roles, pivoting to a pure HR role in 2022 made me keenly aware how much I miss the world of Salesforce (and the NPSP/the joys and challenges of nonprofit work.) Not only do I miss having a job that aligns with my goals, but I'm also missing out on valuable Salesforce experience and updates. While I'm still working on passing the Administrator exam and securing a Salesforce Manager or Administrator role, I'm also hoping to hasten my return to a Salesforce environment. I'd love to hear about your experiences securing a non-administrator role at an organization using Salesforce, then later pivoting into an administrator position, and what steps did you take during this process?

@Becky McAuley If you have already served as a deafult Salesforce admin, I don't think you need to go for the associate cert. You can directly jump into Salesforce admin trails.

Hi Everyone,

I recently passed the certification exam and have begun the process of job searching. I have so far found it difficult to find job postings for entry level administrators. Majority are looking for a few years minimum of experience as an admin. Has anyone else struggled with this? any tips you can share would be appreciated. thanks all!

    Hi

Congratulations on passing the certification exam! It's not uncommon for job seekers to encounter challenges when looking for entry-level positions, especially in competitive fields like Salesforce administration. Here are some tips to help you navigate this situation:

    1. Networking: Connect with other professionals in the Salesforce community through platforms like LinkedIn, user groups, and online forums. Networking can provide you with insights, job leads, and potential referrals.

    2. Internships and Volunteer Opportunities: Consider taking on internships, volunteer roles, or freelance projects that can help you gain practical experience. These experiences can be valuable on your resume and serve as a bridge to full-time positions.

    3. Tailored Applications: Carefully read job descriptions and tailor your application to highlight relevant skills and experiences. Emphasize any transferable skills and your commitment to learning and growth.

    4. Certifications: While you've already passed the certification exam, consider pursuing additional certifications that align with your career goals. This can help make your application stand out.

    5. Showcase Projects: Create a portfolio showcasing any personal projects, Salesforce-related or not, that demonstrate your problem-solving skills and ability to work with technology.

    6. LinkedIn Profile: Ensure your LinkedIn profile is up-to-date and highlights your skills, certifications, and any relevant coursework or projects.

    7. Reach Out to Recruiters: Connect with recruiters who specialize in Salesforce positions. They might have insights into roles that are not publicly posted.

Remember that gaining experience doesn't always have to come from traditional full-time roles. Volunteer work, internships, freelance projects, and continuous learning can all contribute to your growth and make you a stronger candidate in the long run. Keep your enthusiasm high and stay committed to your goals.

If my solution was helpful to you, I would appreciate it if you could mark it as the best answer.

    Best Regards,

    Ankit Sharma

    Thanks

I'm working on my 1st super badge with the eventual goal of getting my Admin certificate.  I had a career in I.T. then burnt out and left it several years ago.  I'm now focused on working in a smaller company doing Salesforce and other technical work (an IT generalist).  Nice to meet you all!

Hello everyone. I am currently using Trailhead with the goal of finding employment as a SF Administrator and to eventually become certified. This is a new career path for myself.  I am a licensed acupuncturist and have worked in healthcare for approx 13 years as a clinician, clinic manager, and a surgery service coordinator; however, I wish to begin a new career that offers opportunities to work remotely. Unfortunately, I do not have transferable experience in the business world. I I would truly appreciate helpful hints or resources or comradely around making such a career change. I would appreciate any advice on the first steps to developing opportunities for employment and experience.

I'm a mental health counselor but I'm in your shoes! What I'm doing is emphasizing how the experience I do have can help as a Salesforce admin. So for example, working as a clinician you've probably had experience with data management, iterative development, and databases because you've used EHRs to track a patient's progress and make adjustments to help them reach their goals. As far as I know this works; but if anyone else has differing advice please let me know.

@Robert Zvara I'm also following this in case David ever replies

Hello! I’m a Production Supervisor in manufacturing but I’ve also spent a good bit of time in sales and working with other CRMs similar to Salesforce. I desire to make a change in careers and I have technical aptitude. Is it possible to break into a Salesforce career by using Trailheads exclusively? Or is it only possible by leveraging a training like Supermums?
