Hello Trailblazer Community,

I am learning Salesforce Administration and building a Recruitment Management project in my Trailhead Playground.

In Setup → Login History, I repeatedly see the error “Failed: Missing Consumer Key Parameter.”

Here are the details:

  • Login Type: Remote Access 2.0
  • Application: Trailhead
  • HTTP Method: POST
  • A failed login and a successful login sometimes appear at the same timestamp.
  • The failed entries keep appearing on different days.
  • My Playground launches successfully, and I can access my project.

I have already created a Salesforce Trailhead Support case to investigate this issue.

My questions:

  1. Why might these failed login entries appear when my Playground still works?
  2. Could this error affect my future Playground access?
  3. Could it affect my preparation for or ability to take the Salesforce Certified Administrator exam?
  4. Is there anything I should do, or should I wait for Salesforce Support?

I have not intentionally configured any new integrations to address this error. I will appreciate any suggestions. Thank you!

Hi @Mohsin Azam The Missing Consumer Key Parameter error usually happens when an OAuth authentication request is missing the required Consumer Key (Client ID).

Since your Trailhead Playground is working fine, it may be related to a separate Trailhead authentication attempt.

I would suggest checking these points:

    1. Login History: Check the failed login timestamps and application details.
    2. Connected Apps: Review OAuth usage, but don't change any settings unnecessarily.
    3. Playground Access: If your Playground opens normally, you can continue your learning.
    4. Certification: This error should not affect your Salesforce Administrator certification exam.
    5. Salesforce Support: Since you already raised a case, share the Login History details and wait for their response.

Continue working on your project and monitor the errors. No need to create a new Playground unless access issues occur.
