When exporting a report for the first time since login. A new tab opens for verification (passkey) once approved the report downloads, however the tab just stays open. Is there anything I can do to prevent this? Or is this an issue?

Hi Fletcher, this is the new step-up authentication Salesforce is rolling out for report exports and prints, so the prompt itself is expected, not something in your setup. The first export after login triggers identity verification, then you stay verified for about two hours, so users hit it once per session rather than on every export.
On the tab not closing: that verification window is the browser passkey flow, and Salesforce does not auto-close it after the download finishes. There is no admin setting to make it close on its own, it is a cosmetic gap on their side, so there is nothing to prevent it other than closing the tab manually. If it is disruptive for your users, it is worth logging a Salesforce case so it gets tracked as a known issue.
