Hi all!

I’m looking for project ideas to build out my resume and Salesforce portfolio, especially in the platform developer and admin space. At my last job, I worked as an office administrator and inside sales procurement buyer in a warehouse environment—and to put it bluntly, the system was chaotic.

There was no direct communication between the sales team and the shipping/receiving department. No one had a clear way to track the status of orders unless they manually pulled up the sales doc or chased down the rep. Everything ran through email, word-of-mouth, or whatever the president decided was the priority that day. It was exhausting and inefficient—and while I tried to suggest improvements, I think that may have rubbed folks the wrong way.

Now that I’m no longer there, I’ve been thinking of using that experience as a reference point for a personal project. I want to rebuild their sales order, inventory, and communication workflows in Salesforce as a case study—not to show them, but to showcase how streamlined and functional things could

be.

Is that okay to use as a basis for a portfolio project? I won’t be using any proprietary data or names—just the chaos as inspiration, haha. I’d love to hear if anyone else has done similar "fictionalized" rebuilds based on past roles—and if you have any project recommendations, I’m all ears! What kinds of Salesforce admin/developer builds have helped you land interviews or show off your skills?
