I have a circumstance where a new employee mistakingly singed-up for a trial of Salesforce, instead of being assigned a user ID by the SysAdmin. I found out when I tried to add her as a new user and received this error:
"Duplicate Username -
xxxx@thesusiq.orgThe username already exists in this or another Salesforce
organization.Toresolve, use a different username (it doesn't need to match the user's email address)."
Is there any way to "assign" this ID to our instance? We would like to use her email address with our domain as her USER ID. Otherwise, she'll have to create new email address which she won't necessarily track, since it's only used as a Salesforce ID.
She can go into the trial instance and change the user name of the existing user and that'll free it up for use in your instance.
But even if she doesn't you don't need to create a new email address - the user name can be different from the address. So if her emai address is
janedoe@thesusiq.org, her user name can be janedoe.sf@thesusiq.org, while the email address on the user can still be janedoe@thesusiq.org and no email will ever be sent by Salesforce to janedoe.sf@thesusiq.org.
