It is "normal" in Salesforce to have any contacts as members of a parent campaign, or just the child campaign in the last tier? In what instance would it be helpful to have contacts as members of the parent campaign?

In our org, the parent campaign is "student", and the child campaign is "Class of 2011" among many other child campaigns. Shouldn't I assign the students as members of the child campaign? Then just use the parent campaign for creating groupings and lists?

Thanks for your help.
