I need to bring in some fields from the Task and Event object to the Account object (mostly dates). But I've used up all my free rollups, and don't want to upgrade to the paid version yet. Any workarounds?

You could look into Declarative Lookup Rollup Summaries Tool and does the same thing as rollup helper
