I'm having an issue with some custom fields in auto-generated assets. There is a "Primary Support Person" contact entry in my Product, and when an asset is created I would like to duplicate or inherit this contact in the asset. This would greatly simplify my workflow rules as I could then filter my email workflows from related contacts/users.

 

So far I've created a custom field in my product that contains the contact ( related to contact ), set a child relationship name, and list label. Then when I create the "Primary Support Person" entry in the Asset field, I get stuck. I've tried different methods to pull this information down and the only one I can get to show any data is a Formula, which is not recognized as a Contact by the Workflow Rules
