Trigger a field update on the account record when saving it's contact?

I know that cross-object field updates aren't an option in this scenario, but can I do this with a Apex trigger or something? Although a certified admin, I don't know apex, and just need someone to point me to an example or some documentation.

Yes this is possible using Apex Triggers.
