When an email address is deleted on Contact in Salesforce the Prospect record in Pardot changes the CRM ID to the deleted email address.

This help article describes the following scenario should happen instead:  https://help.salesforce.com/articleView?id=sf.pardot_email_address_changes_sync_to_pardot.htm&type=5

CRM: a@a.com Pardot: a@a.com

Email deleted from CRM record--> Pardot marks the prospect [[crm_deleted]] to indicate that the sync has been stopped.

However, that is not happening. Has anyone experienced this?

    @Maria Kelley

    yes we did.

    To re-establish the sync with the contact, you have to go to the prospect, then click on the drop down next to 'Edit / Delete / Sync with CRM' and select 'Disable CRM Syncing' and then 'Enable CRM Syncing'.

    yes we did.

    Then you should see the Salesforce cloud reappear next to the name and the sync should be active again. Obviously make sure that the corresponding contact in Salescloud has a correct email address listed.

    I have also put an automation rule in place where all CRM delete prospects are put into the recycling bin, as I don't want them to be mailable.

    We found that whilst the CRM_delete breaks the sync, is does not make the prospect non mailable, so if it's an incorrect email address, it'll potentially still be used.

    Hope that makes sense.
