We are implementing community and enabled self registration , issue is that OOTB lightning components aren't enabled , we have to manually expose those components , after enabling lightning components , we see the custom self register component popping up , but when trying to self-register , after submitting the details we are getting an error 'Hmm. Something isn't right. Please try again.'.
Can someone please let me know if someone has come across this issue?

Hi @Harsha Gadag it might be worth creating a support case with a request for them to ensure that proper Identity and Communities perms have been enabled in that Org.
