Trying to deploy and approval process from a winter'16 sandbox to another winter'16 sandbox

Have tried both via change set and via ANT and in both cases is fails with error

"This Unique Name already exists or has been previously used. Please choose a different name."

I have a case with SFDC already but no resolution yet. Anyone run into this?

We suspect this may be caused by the deploy process not recognizing that a field update of the same name already exists and is trying to create it which fails.
