#Volunteers For Salesforce0 debatiendo

Hi,

The "Volunteer Job" custom object is the detail of a master/detail field on the "Volunteer Shift" custom object and both of these objects are part of a custom app. After creating several "Volunteer Shift" records, I realize that I am unable to:

  1. Edit the "Volunteer Job" field from any "Volunteer Shift" list view or record detail
  2. Map the "Volunteer Job" field when importing "Volunteer Shift" data to update (the field name doesn't appear when clicking on the "map" button in the Data Import Wizard or Dataloader.io)

How can I edit/update this data?

You should be able to see the Volunteer Job if you start the import by saying that you want to "Add new and update existing records.

Be careful though, if you have Volunteer Hours for those shifts, you'll need to change the Volunteer Job for those records too.

Hi - I cannot seem to figure out how to add the "Send Email" option in my contacts. I tried to do it through object management and through the global options. Does anyone have any idea how to do this? #Volunteers For Salesforce

@Willmarie Austin Have you tried the quick actions for the contact?

    1) Go to setup => Object Manager

    2) Search contact and open the contact object.

    3) Click on the "Button Link and Actions"

    4) Click on new and select "Send Email" from the Action Type.

    5) Add the action on the contact page layout.

I am looking to find several #Salesforce Developers willing to quote a custom iPad app that ties back to Volunteers for Salesforce.  This would also be a project that would include upgrading the current #Volunteers For Salesforce to be mobile-ready.  Part of this, hopefully, could be shared back with the non-profit community that uses this app.

on my Personal Site page, in recent volunteer history, one field - "Shift Start and Date Time" is very poorly spaced and it's driving me a little crazy. It is NOT in the field set for this section. Is there any way I can edit it? Is it a Vforce page?

Thanks!

I was excited to read this app could handle scheduling via on our website, until I found out it uses Sites, a deprecated feature of Salesforce that is no longer supported or enabled on our org... So this takes away a good part of the usefulness and makes about 50% of documentation obsolete. If you can't use the calendar or any of the website features, not sure how much use we'd get out of it.

Is any update planned to restore this functionality for non-profits, or updates to the documentation to reflect more current functionality?

@TM SFDC Admin, As I understand it, the issue with Force.com

sites is they have effectively been replaced by Salesforce Communities. Officially the product isn't deprecated, but in order for users to login (authenticated users), they must have a Customer Portal license. This license is no longer available to new Salesforce customers. If you were a Salesforce customer before this change was made, then you may be grandfathered in.

All of the above is mostly irrelevant as it relates to V4S, because V4S users login using the Guest User Profile, which doesn't require the Customer Portal license. V4S is still a solid bet for the use cases that it serves well. If you have a use case beyond that which is presently supported by V4S, Communities and some of the other 3rd party apps out there are worth a look.

I am having a problem where the email to get to the volunteer personal site gets directed to an Under Construction page. I am using myself as a test contact. I have enabled public access settings and tried just about everything to fix this, but I just can't figure out what is wrong. I have noticed this has been an issue for other V4S users, but I could not find a resolution to the problem. Any help would be appreciated!

    Sites (Force.com

Sites) are a mechanism that Salesforce uses to allow you to publish and capture information on webpages - it's just a connector with Salesforce.

    Whereas

    Sites.com

was a Salesforce Content Management System, that allowed you to build complete webpages of content linked back to Salesforce records.

I'm sorry not to be able to help with your "WebToConnect" issue, but it should only be necessary to remove it if you've reached the limit of new Sites you can create (25 for Enterprise edition, I believe).

The "Access Denied" message is most likely caused by a permissions issue. V4S permissions can be a bit tricky to get right, so make sure you've read the instructions in the Config guide carefully.

I'm wondering how to allow users to select the language in their personal site. I know about the URL "Language" criteria, but what is the best way to integrate that into the overall flow? Do you embed multiple iframes of the contact lookup form on your website, one for each language? It seems like the personal site link given in the email doesn't pick up the language from the lookup form. Appreciate any advice you all have.

Hello, I added the Volunteer Shift related list to my volunteer campaign and noticed it has no records. However, if I navigate to the Volunteer Job page and look at the related Volunteer Shift list on there it has records. Any ideas why it's not populating on the Campaign page but does on the Volunteer Jobs page? Thanks!

Yup, I did create a lookup to volunteer campaigns on the volunteer shift. The problem happened to be I had created the volunteer shifts before implementing the lookup and the field had not populated with the campaign. I add to add the campaign to each volunteer shift for it to populate on the campaign page. Thanks!
