I have a drip email Campaign - Many Emails and Wait times between the email sends - The Campaign is driven from an Actionable List.   If I add members to the Actionable List after the Campaign has been activated, will they start the Journey at the beginning, where it currently is at, or not at all?

    Is the campaign set to run on a recurring schedule?

    Whether newly added members enter the flow depends on the campaign schedule. If it is a one-time send and that scheduled run has already occurred, adding members to the Actionable List afterward will not cause them to enter the flow.

    If it is running on a recurring schedule, newly added members can enter at the next scheduled run.

    They will not join the flow at the point where existing members currently are. There is no functionality for members to enter partway through the flow—they always enter from the beginning when the flow runs.

Hi! I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing this. We have been getting a much lower than normal open rate the past two monthly sends. We used to average between 40-50% open rate but have now dropped to 29% for each send (august & september). I first thought it was our subject line but don't think that's the cause anymore. Our delivered emails remain the same so no drop in that.

I did research on the Gmail update that happened in July that penalizes larger lists and prioritizes engagement. We do have a lot of unengaged subscribers which I am thinking could be the cause of this. Would it be worth cleaning out these subscribers to see if this fixes the issue? Any other recommendations or think this may be something else?

    @Taylor Thomas

    Good that rules out the most common silent failure cause, so this now points toward reputation/engagement rather than authentication. With 65k/123k on Gmail, you're well past the bulk sender threshold, so their spam-rate and engagement bar applies fully to you.

    1. Gmail Postmaster Tools - do this first, it's the actual source of truth Everything above is inference from opens; Postmaster gives you Gmail's own view:

    • Spam rate - this is the one that matters most. Gmail wants this under 0.10%, and anything approaching 0.3% risks bulk filtering. Marketing Cloud's own complaint tracking undercounts this people who just hit "report spam" without unsubscribing don't always show up the same way in MC's complaint metrics.
    • Domain/IP reputation High/Medium/Low/Bad bucket, tracked daily
    • Delivery errors and feedback loop data
    • Needs domain verification (TXT record) if not already set up, this alone is worth doing regardless of the current issue, since you'll want the historical trend once you have it.

    2. Segment your engagement report by ISP before doing anything else

    If open rate dropped roughly evenly across Gmail/Yahoo/Outlook, that points more toward content/list fatigue than a Gmail specific inbox placement issue. If it's disproportionately Gmail, that confirms reputation/spam rate as the driver. This one check tells you which of the two paths below to prioritize.

    3. On spam rate specifically check for a silent cause

    Since authentication passes, a spam rate creep is the next most likely explanation for exactly this symptom (delivered flat, opens down). Things that quietly push spam rate up:

    • A list merge/import around July/Aug that added lower-quality or older contacts
    • No visible/working one-click unsubscribe (Gmail requires the List Unsubscribe header AND that it actually works within 2 days) if someone can't easily unsubscribe, they hit "report spam" instead
    • Content changes (new sender name, new link domains, more images) that shifted spam filter scoring independent of reputation

    4. Sunset flow before mass suppression

    Once you know the spam rate and whether it's Gmail specific, then move to hygiene but sequence it:

    • Re-engagement send to 90+ day unengaged (low risk subject line ask if they still want these)
    • Suppress non responders after that, rather than a single large deletion a sudden big cut can itself cause a short-term reputation dip right when you're trying to recover

We have a user in our Marketing Cloud connecting to our CRM that is from an old supplier and should be changed. What is the impact of disconnecting and connecting a new user? Is that a possibility?

We also had to change the password of said user and now it seems the connection between SF and MC is broken but only on the direction MC->SF. Even though it says connected in the integration setup page, the update object activity from journeys is not communicating to SF anymore.

From SF to MC information is still flowing (probably because the API user is unchanged).

Appreciate any insights you might have

    dear @Himanshu Shekhar and @Mradul Srivastava

    ,

    Thank you both for the answer. I think I did not explain the problem thoroughly, basically one of my admins had revoked some app of the dedicated user (because it was an old agency user) and it threw the integration off tracks. We did keep the name of the user, changed the communication email and in the end only reset the password.

    After much research I was very scared of having to reconfigure the whole connector, so I reached out for support. They instructed us to change the configs of the connected app in the CRM to:

    Setup -> Apps -> Connected Apps -> Manage Connected Apps -> Salesforce Marketing Cloud.

    -> Under 'Permitted Users', could you please select 'Admin approved users are pre-authorised'?

    -> Under 'Refresh Token Policy', could you please select 'Immediately'

    And that, somehow fixed the connection. I still cant make sense of it since I did not have to reauthenticate the user. I asked for more clarifications, but what's important is that the connections was reestablished successfully. The object activities from journeys and the IER are flowing back to CRM.

Hello! Does anyone have any suggestions on call tracking features in salesforce? We are leaning towards Aircall CTI, but if anyone has any suggestions on something similar and/or better let me know!

We want it to be as seamless as possible - our reps make a call in salesforce and it's automatically tracked/notes, states how long the call was etc. and we can report on it.

    Hi @Abby M,

    I think you'll find most CTI providers have similar feature sets. In addition to Aircall, our clients have had success with Five9, Ring Central, and Vonage

Relatively new to Marketing Cloud Next and the landing page builder feels pretty limited/restrictive. There also doesn't seem to be much content covering them online. Are they useless or am I missing something?     Would love to see examples you've created! TIA

    @Blake Norrish @Menno Kruijt  It entirely depends on your use case. If it is a complex one, please share the details here so that we can try to provide a better example or suggest a possible solution.

    However, I’m sharing another example from @Nobuyuki Watanabe 's blog -

    This should certainly give you a better understanding of how, when, and why to utilize a CloudPage.

I want to sync only specific contacts from our integrated Salesforce Org into a Marketing Cloud Data Extension. However, under Data Sources, I can only select one Boolean field as a filter. The contacts I need to sync are based on multiple filter conditions. Is there a way to apply multiple conditions when configuring the data source?

    @Ritu Srivastava It is a general practice that customers usually follow to avoid overage of contacts. If your goal is to sync only the required records from the integrated Sales Cloud then I would recommed using the report based integration practice. See steps below -

    1. Create a report of required contacts in Sales Cloud
    2. Go to marketing cloud > Interactions
    3. Go to Import > Create
    4. Select Salesforce objects and reports from file location drop down
    5. Complete the configuration and run the import definition.

    You will see a new data extension (with the same name as import activity) that will be created under "Salesforce Data Extensions" folder. Follow this document for clear steps - https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=000383010&type=1

    You can automate this process by using the import definition in the automation studio.

    Note - You need to complete the user level integration to configure this. Here is the help document for that - https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=000389821&type=1

Dear Community,

I have one technical question: One of my Marketing cloud client want to dynamically extract DE in a Particular folder to SFTP as a csv or json file. Folder path:

Data Extensions >Interactive Content.

I have tried Pivoting the DE using SQL activity but for Future DEs I need to keep adding the SQl Activity. So client wants to Dynamically extracts DEs from the Folder to SFTP.

Do you have any suggestions to achieve this or any use case from past experience will help me a lot.

Thank you,

Guru

    Good question, Guru. The reason columns are missing: your script retrieves the DataExtension object, which only carries Name and CustomerKey. The COLUMNS live on a separate object, DataExtensionField, so you fetch them per DE.

    Easiest is SSJS Core (faster than WSProxy). For each customerKey you already have:

    var de = DataExtension.Init(customerKey);

    var fields = de.Fields.Retrieve();

    var columns = [];

    for (var i = 0; i < fields.length; i++) {

      columns.push(fields[i].Name);

    Each field also carries FieldType, IsPrimaryKey, MaxLength, Ordinal, DefaultValue and StorageType, so you can capture data types and the primary key too if you want.

    So loop your existing DE list, call Fields.Retrieve per customerKey, and add that columns array into your JSON next to the Name and CustomerKey you already have.

    if this helps, please mark it as the Best Answer so it helps the next person, thanks 🙂

Hi,

I am trying to get some reporting on our form submissions. I have tried the Analytics reports "Form Submission Event" and "Individual with Form Submission", to see how many times (and ideally when and by who) our forms are being filled out. When I try either of these reports, they only return 22 or 24 items, however I know we have had around 300 submissions. There are no filters on that I am adding. I am unsure how I can see this information.

Thanks!

    Hi Emily,

    This mismatch usually comes down to one of two things:

    1. Hidden default date filter (most likely cause) — many Data Cloud/Analytics report templates carry an implicit time-range filter (e.g., trailing 7/30 days) that isn't shown as a visible chip. Open the report in edit mode, check the lens/query for a date condition, and widen or remove it.

    2. Ingestion gap — go to Data Cloud > Data Lake Objects > your Form Submission stream > Data Explorer, and check the row count there directly. If it's already ~22-24 at that level, the issue is upstream in ingestion (check the Data Stream's refresh history for a partial/failed run), not in the report.

    Also worth noting: "Individual with Form Submission" counts by resolved Individual, not raw event — so if your Identity Resolution match rules are broad, some submissions may be consolidating under fewer unified profiles. That's expected for that report specifically, but it wouldn't explain a similar gap on "Form Submission Event," which should be event-level.

    Start with the date filter check — that resolves this in most cases.

I know there isn't a native feature destined to determine which channel is best to send messages to each subscriber, but is there a way I can combine features so that I achieve this?

    Hi @Aline Bin Cardoso

    I think you might be missing my point. There are no standard features for doing this channel determination - so far we do agree.

    What I am questioning is the value of doing such a prioritization in first place - as channels serve very different purposes and drive very different behaviour. Also, consent is also very often channel specific (or at least it should be) so it is ultimately up to the recipient's preferences to decide, which channels they want to engage with you in.

    What one COULD consider, and what I have done successfully in the past, is to have an engagement driven "escalation path". I.e. you start with the least intrusive channel (email) and end up with the most intrusive (SMS). Meaning, that a campaign email, promoting up to 60% discount, will start as an email. It will give the recipient a broad selection of articles on sale, and provide details about the best offers. If the recipient chooses not to engage after some days (here it is up to you to decide, which criteria should define engagement), you can proceed to decide if the recipient is an app user (and send an app push) or an SMS (if you have their phone number). These two formats are quite limited, and will only be able to hold information like "FINAL CALL! Our sale ends tomorrow. Save up to 60%.

    https://example.com/sale

    If you REALLY need to have a decision split based on engagement data from across channels, you will need to build your own logic in SQL, querying across the different data views, allowing you to derive most engaging channels for a specific contact. Do keep in ind though, that while SMS will have the biggest CTR, it can also easily lead to unsubscribes due to oversaturation.

Good afternoon everyone, how are you doing?

I'd like some help with a Marketing Cloud Next configuration issue. When we started the initial setup process, we encountered the following error under Basic Settings.

We can't move forward to the rest of the configurations because it says we haven't enabled Marketing Cloud, but as you can see, everything is already enabled. It's been over an hour since we did this and still nothing. Does anyone know what might be causing this?

One quick note: we initially enabled Data Cloud and then moved on to the Basic Settings to continue the process, and that's where we hit this roadblock.

Thanks!

    Try disabling data cloud and then compete the MC settings first and then data cloud. If that doesn't work then create a new org.
