We are all appreciative of the new accessibility features in 10.2, and hoping you might post the latest VPAT to the group. nullmentioned that it was available in this thread

Thanks,

Tableau users can create and publish dashboards and vizzes to Tableau Server/Online/Public that are 508 compliant  (our VPAT documents the issues) when the author follows the documented guidelines and uses only accessible elements in the dashboards/vizzes. So our Section 508 stance is about the content, not the tool itself.

I vaguely remember getting an email after the meeting that videos ere available, but I'm not seeing a link here in the form. Does anyone remember how to find them?

That's a good idea, Sarah! It would be a great resource for everyone here   Sean Clowers? Any thoughts on this?

I also did a search for the Feb meeting and I don't believe they ever did send out the link for that one. The only one I found was for May

This semester I have been co-mentoring (with Karen Perry of NTIA) 3 teams of UW iSchool students who are all working on open data and broadband.

They are all coming up on the end of their capstone projects, and I’d like to arrange a showcase opportunity.

Would you be interested in attending (in-person or virtually) a short demo and pitch session event in Seattle during the second week of May?

One team is building a mapping application that shows data the FCC map does not include, such as mobile service and speed tests – using Tableau for Viz, and FCC data from Socrata

Another is looking at internet use data from NTIA and census,

The third is doing interviews with local government broadband advocates and making usability recommendations for tools that will move the needle on small towns

I'm mentoring a student team at UW that is studying broadband speed data from the FCC; they have built a cool Tableau server instance using student licensing, and when their project is done we'll have to either shut it down.

Would anyone in Olympia be interested in hosting on your Tableau Server?

It drives a public viz in the Gallery, looks cool, and I can vouch for the data coming in - it's all category 1 open data copied from the FCC.

I've been looking at internet speed test data from https://measurementlab.net -- they use mostly Google BigQuery for data access.

I just found out about this cool how-to on querying BigQuery from Tableau: Google BigQuery

I found this video of tips actually quite helpful - good way to see what Tableau can do and get exposed to different visualization options in rapid-fire. Plus, it's actually pretty funny. They got up to 86 tips!

Agencies in Olympia are doing Tableau visualizations all the time; here are a few I've noticed recently

I'll be working with our web team to embed the map, and possibly other dashboards on our website in the future.

    Enjoy!
