Illinois Higher Education

Led by University of Illinois, this group focuses on the needs of higher education. We welcome members of all skill levels and want to foster and encourage open discussion, innovation and problem solving. Higher Education poses unique challenges, so let's talk about them!

Can anyone share any sample workbook/dashboard which describes the story of the student performance and demographics? We have student demographics, scores and grades of the student.

Thank you for your question, but we do not have a dashboard designed that can be shared with grades, scores for students in a story format.  There are many dashboards we have built that cover many different aspects of student information, such as enrollment, retention, graduation rate, etc. that are public. You can find them here.

We are looking 👀 for Instructors across diverse disciplines willing to showcase and flex your teaching talents using tableau in the classroom: class projects, syllabi, assessments, data sets, websites, assignments.

Why? You are the EXPERT and we want to Recognize your Teaching Talents 💪 ! Almost everyday since joining Tableau, I've learned of a new class project, data set, or activity that I wish I could share with the world or that I wish I knew about when I was teaching Psychology courses. We also have a myriad of colleagues and department chairs who are curious as to how they or their department can use Tableau in the classroom in their discipline or field. Some questions include: How do they set up their classroom virtually or live? What data sets do they use? How do you choose the best assignment? What is a great first assignment?

How & when: We would virtually host quick 45 minute monthly curriculum meetings starting as soon as mid July, if we have interest. Monthly a featured Instructor/Teacher can flex their Teaching Talents (25 minutes) and our community of members can network, collaborate, ask questions, get inspired, swap and share ideas (20 minutes).

Interested 😀 ? please fill out this quick 4 question form:https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1xbLCNtQ1o-3sny1NTyfGeTj6vvbTW_T2E60t5eq9BYQ/edit?usp=sharing

or email me with questions: Jessica.lyons@tableau.com and I live in Illinois. I actually teach Psychology at St Xavier, Aurora University. I used to work at College of DuPage and NIU.

Tableau is hosting a “DataDev Appreciation Week”September 13-17, 2021. We are looking for a panel of up to four developers and four students for a conversation around becoming a DataDev and what the future opportunities look like in this field. The student panel members would be interviewing Tableau DataDevs. The purpose of this conversation is to show what a career as a DataDev is, the varied paths the community has taken to get to where they are today and best advice to students looking for their next step.

Hi, all. I know I am not from Illinois, but Pennsylvania has no higher ed group, so I wanted to join another state's group. I hope this is OK. If not, let me know.

I work at Lafayette College in Easton, PA, and I am AVP for Financial Aid. I do some Tableau work for our enrollment and financial aid division, though perhaps not as efficiently as I could. I am happy to share any financial aid ideas if you need them, though I'll probably have more questions than answers at this point.

Thank you!

Hi everyone!

Let you know that we have upgraded our Tableau UPG server environment with 2019.1 release and if you are interested in try-out new features. There are individuals from UIC and UIUC campuses inquired earlier about Ask Data (NLP Natural Language Processing) feature when it was in Beta phase which is included in this new release. Please try out at your convenience and let us know if you have a question or need help.

Thank you,

Jayesh
