Outbound Funds Module (SFDO Product)

This is a public group to discuss the Outbound Funds Module. This is a foundational solution for foundations and nonprofits who disburse awards and grants to track their funding programs and requests, gain insight on financial commitments and manage disbursements. It is free and open source. This package is designed to work with all Salesforce instances and NPSP is not a requirement. Important note about Funding Requests as of July 2019: If you were an early adopter of the Outbound Funds package, the Funding Request object had a master-detail relationship with Funding Program when you installed it. However, various members of the community requested that this relationship be changed to a lookup to provide more flexibility. This change was made generally available with package version 1.15 as of 7/11/2019.

    @Samantha Shain

    Yes! We do still need people to share. I would love for you to share! (YAY!)

    Generally people just do a walk through of their set up and answer questions, but feel free to prepare whatever makes sense to you. The session is an hour so you'd have 30+ minutes to share and then we can fill in the rest with discussion. We can chat in slack if you have questions or want me details! Thank you!!

Hi @Outbound Funds Module (SFDO Product) community.

I wanted to share a new resource available, we have started a YouTube Channel to share recordings of our recent meetings.  It's a brand new channel, but we have our Anniversary Meeting and the Due Diligence & Compliance demos on the channel.

Outbound Funds Community on YouTube

I also wanted to thank everyone who contributed to the conversation and the chat.  We really appreciated all the great comments and resources shared with the group.  I've collected a number of the items shared by fellow community members that were recommended to use for your own Due Diligence and Compliance processes:

Next OFM Meeting is in March, link to sign up is in the right-side information panel. If you've already signed up for this year's meeting series you don't need to sign up again.

    I have not seen this done in expereince cloud before, but I don't see why that wouldn't be possible.  I've built a flow that leverages the ProPublica API and I know others that have used Candid's API to do US Tax ID verfication of nonprofits and to collect organization details like DBA names, tax exempt status, tax exempt org type, addresses, NTEE codes, etc..

    So in theory you should be able to create a user facing screen flow that does this and make it avialble to the user in the portal to enter a tax ID, look up and present the org information it finds, then let the user confirm this is they org they are submitting for and then use that flow to find/match and to link the application to an account or create an account based on the IRS data or Candid profiles.  The only thing I'd be cautious of is linking the user to the organization just to prevent them from seeing or acessing information that they shouldn't see.

Hi Everyone!

I am new to the Outbound Funds Module and I am trying to figure out the best way to set up the way our donation/grant program runs.

We receive donation requests throughout the year and our committee meets every few months to approve or deny these requests.  Every fiscal year, more money is put into the account we pull the donations from.

Would it be best to set up a new Funding Program for each fiscal year? That way once we have the amount that will be put into the account for that year, it is a new total.  We do get a lot of repeated requests from the same nonprofit organizations, but also new ones throughout the year.  If I add each organization in as an account, would we be able to see all of their donation requests from different fiscal years on their account page?

Any other tips, I will gladly take.  I appreciate any help and  this group so much!

    GAUs are another approach to tracking donor intent on one side (GAU Allocation on Opportunity), and the Funding Request (GAU Expenditure).  To me Funding Programs are more of a user-facing description of a grantline, whereas the mechanics of enforcing donor intent tracking is GAUs.

Trying to solve an issue where outbound funds were returned from a project. Using cancel on a disbursement won't work because those funds get added back to Available. This is a case where the full amount awarded could not be used and the client wants to reflect that in the amount available.

Suggestions? Have others come across this use case? I am new to Outbound Funds.
